Thanks to Jim Dog
Seems the old software got overloaded by some bot and the database got FUBARED
Jim notified our hosting company and it took some time to rebuild and duplicate all the years of tomfoolery and what not so it could be re-installed.
Thought about just chucking the whole thing but there is so much history involved in this place that it would be a shame to just digitally vaporize it. Where else has a compendium of jokes of all types? Dogs on ice. Minnow buckets used as helmets while fishing in a hail storm.
As was pointed out in a thread at The Refuge by one of our members…..friendships were made on this site that have lasted for decades.
Memories of former comrades that are no longer with us in the flesh but are with us in those old threads.
This conglomeration of knot heads made this a base of operations so duck hunters could keep feeding the people that put Joplin back together. That in its self is reason to pay the hosting fees.
I still keep the lights on even though we get old timers passing through. Sometimes they post.
At times this has been the only place that provided a link to find someone.
As long as I can, I hope to keep this place open.
We now return you to whatever foolishness you choose.

In all honesty I was sitting here tonight thinking about a conversation I had with Jim - if my mind is right, it would have been in early December of 2005.
It was when the MDC announced they were closing the original site and I decided to build a replacement. Jim was instrumental in many of the technical aspects and it would not have happened without his help.
That was 16 years ago…and his words to me then were, “the platform you are building this on is old and not supported anymore. If something happens to the database, it could be difficult to (insert some tech word for make it work again) and I would recommend using a newer platform”.
Well, Jim, see just how damn good you are! You have accomplished bringing the place back to life numerous times. Don’t sell yourself short

Jim will give all the credit to griffin though - the man behind the man…so to speak.

Thanks Master Wu.....next time, if you will just let me know ahead of time when this thing is gonna bounce, I can build some firewalls and chit to stop it. It's what I do.
