First snakes of 2017

Yesterday I was feeding the goats, and spotted a Black Rat Snake. (4' to 5' long). I tried to catch it for some better pics, but when I grabbed it, it went through the fence and hid under the straw in the goat pen.

Today there was a smaller one in the chicken coop. I got to hold this one a bit, before releasing it at the rock ledge behind the coop.

Good snakes. We always let them go.
