Galveston Island - last week
      #206351 - Mon Jul 26 2010 08:10 AM

heard it showered while I was gone.. stormed for 4 days out in the gulf.... waves wind and mountains of seaweed made beach fishing generall suck..

Monday got knocked off the seawall by a wave.. got ripped to shreds by the coral on the rocks.. spend tuesday in bed mainly..

spent most of t/w/th humoring the social director cause fishingsucked.. did see enuf good looking Kini bodies that I started looking at faces!

friday got a little better... but still a lot of grass.

saturday tried to fish San Luis pass... forking kids showed up on jet skis.. ran shark lines out with too small of weightss.. pretty soon had nowhere to fish.... line drift.

Sunday morning was perfect but only had two hours... hit the seawall again... had a fish pull a swivel open and then had fish break off newly tied 30 pound test.... either a big arse red, a ray or shark.. never got to see either one..
of course I had to quit and go back to the condo early.
water was finally clear enuf yesterday to see the mullet surfing in the waves!

IFIID, your niece lives in the yuppieville of all yuppievilles! Her two bedroom condo is about the size of my main floor and has a patio out on the 'resting Pool" vs. the party pool which is a good 40 yard walk through a archway...

And last comment.. Galveston is a pigsty and Texans have to be the worst litterers I have ever seen!

Galveston beach is one of the dirtiest beaches anywhere. FULL of seaweed, muddy water....and from 28th street all the way up past 61st its a very "dark" beach. I spent about 6 weeks there back in May/June. The only time the beach had hot chicks was Memorial Day weekend. The rest of the time I wasn't impressed.

And how exactly does one fall off the Seawall by a wave. Its 12' tall, and the damn water doesn't even hit the bottem of the seawall 90% of the time let alone the top. Are you sure you didn't just get drunk and fall off the bastard?

Parts of Galveston are very clean.....like the west end of the island where all the white people live. We had a great private beach there. The beaches are private, nice, and clean...without the white trash, black trash, and brown trash screwin up your day. Texans aren't the cause of most of the litter....its Africans and Mexicans doing most of the littering.

Dog,

Clarification.... I was on those big arse rocks that are below the seawall.... you know how there are about 10 steps up to the top of the seawall? the surf was leaving seaweed on the 3rd step from the top! I was standing on the taller set of rocks that are about every 50 yards apart... I had a damn redfish banging in the rocks and didnt time the waves... ended up waist deep in a hole in the rocks... and the forkin red didnt measure!

I tried to fish san luis pass quite a bit but in humoring the social director didnt get to spend as much time or the right time at the pass. only caught one little shark and only saw one 3footer caught... lots of people trout fishing sunda morning and a lot of boats at the bridge... the days I fished the bridge were unproductive but timing and seaweed was an issue..

we stayed at a gated place across the road behind the phillips station at CAMPECHE COVE... pretty snooty and I hate elevators and gates... I would have rather stayed at a beach house out around Jamaica Beach... did you ever eat at Nate's? We stopped in there one night and talked to a Jamaica Popo Sargent.. HE said west of of 85th st was okay... east was another story....

I was wondering how ya fell off the seawall and didn't end up in the hospital. That woulda been a big fall.

Ate at Nates a few diff. times. Pretty good food. Probably some of the better eating. Ate at a few other burger joints/shops down off broadway. The Seawall places to eat didnt' impress me much.

Ya shoulda went on a charter and left th social director to entertain herself. The charter folks were doing well when we were there.

thought food at Fish tales was pretty good but pricey for what you got.. BBQ at Amos was OK... BOudreaux by the Bayou was not so good. Michael's Cafe was a strange mix... fancy burger joint with the German food? sort of a weird mix...

I dont think anybody was catching much gulf side on account of the storms and seaweed through thursday... Sunday morn it was finally back to normal and the bait fish were thick...
Had a fish pull a swivel open and then had one snap my 30 pound test like it was thread.. pretty steady pull.. my guess was Ray or shark... the big reds tend to hit and run????
