OK, Massachusetts is passing a law that changes the way their Electoral College delegates vote in presidential elections. It says that all of Massachusetts' electoral votes will be delivered to the candidate who gets the most popular votes nationwide.
It seems to be the Dems up there pushing this, and I don't understand why. MA nearly always votes Democrat - the only Republicans who have won that state in the last 90 years were Eisenhower and Reagan. In 1972, MA was the only state carried by George McGovern.
So - why would MA want a law awarding its votes to the Republican half the time when its people are nearly always gonna vote Democrat? I don't understand.
According to the article, I guess this is a national movement and other states are getting in on it. I can't decide if that's good or bad. Is this some liberal plot, and what's the effect going to be on future elections?
Here's the article:

The states that have passed this are all very progressive states. Doesn't smell right.

OK, I gave it some thought - and it's a liberal plot.
It's the election of 2000 that the Dems are still pissed off about, where Gore got half a million more votes than Bush and still lost.
If you look at an electoral college map of that election, Gore took 20 big-population states in the Northeast, around the Great Lakes, and on the West Coast. Bush took the other 30 states - and with the exceptions of Texas and Florida all the states Bush won had small to medium populations, but he won all of those.
The Dems have this new law rigged so it won't go into effect until states constituting a majority of the electoral college pass it. After that, the candidate getting the most popular votes nationwide will always win the election.
They're playing demographics. By letting umpteen million illegal Hispanics in, they know that eventually they'll get amnesty through and a whole lot of those illegals will become voters. Democrat voters.
Doing that may not be enough to swing all those small and medium size states to the Democrat side, but it'll be enough to make the Republican popular vote margin smaller in each Republican state. Combine that with an overwhelming Democrat majority in the big-population states in the Northeast and on the Left Coast - and it's a formula for a Democrat victory, every time.
That's what I think, anyway. I also think the new law is unconstitutional, and hope the Supreme Court will agree.
Sneaky Democrat bastages!

That's it. Most of the large metropolitan areas in the US vote democrat and actually carry the states popular vote. In essence, this would be giving the vote to KC and St. Louis in Missouri. It is a farse.

I don't care what any of you say about American resiliance adn how great for conservatism obamas election is. The entitlement gang has put into place a machine that is almost unbeatable and Glen Beck can say all he wants this is not the time for taking up arms, but it is getting pretty damned close.

I see that George Soros is hosting Chelsea Clinton's wedding, and it's unknown how many millions the whole thing will cost but her wedding cake alone is over $11,000.
The whole political class, Republicans and Democrats, are so beholden to big money interests it's hard to see how it'll ever get straightened out. Thomas Jefferson had an idea about that.
