Picked up the new pup Saturday and he's a lot of laughs to watch run around. After our lab went down last year the wife wanted another beagle to keep the old beagle company. This guy comes from good rabbit hunting stock.

Beagles are the shiite disturbers of the canine world. Some of the smartest houdini mutts there are out there - true escape artists! Halfie and I grew up with them as my Dad always had several in the kennel out back. I miss listening to them run. Good looking pup there RB!

IIFID and I were raised with beagles and I still have Ole Jessie.. somewhere we have video of IIFID when he was just starting the frankenstein walk.... A pride of beagle pups took him down that would have made a pride of Lions taking down a Zebra proud....
DOnt forget to let him run loose right after the first frost.. Redleg will be needing a dawg.
Btw, In all the years that Dad ran beagles..Only one was allowed in the house...She started having pups in Zero degree weather... The next day when it got a few degrees warmer, mom and pups went back out.

This little guy is from a kennel that breeds rabbit dogs. Problem is the wife will baby him too much but our old one was babied and he was a good hunter. Nothing better than some beagles on scent and watching them work or any good huntin dog for that matter.

the difference tween a good beagle and a great beagle is when you get one that will disappear in a brushpile and only comes out if the rabbit leaves or you set it on fire!
Our Dad probably had dozens of beagles.. but only maybe three that were really like that...I think one time, we actually had to dig one out!

My first beagle would go into anything to get a rabbit out. I know what you mean about digging one out.

The best is when you can hear them chewing through the stuff to get at them. That is DESIRE!
I remember back when there were a lot of rabbits one of our dogs (Smokey I think?) who rousted out 7 out of one brushpile.
