I've really been getting into them this year. For the first time ever, I have more then I know what to do with.
What is the best way to preserve them? I have a dehydrator as well as a vacuum bag sealer. Should I freeze em or dry em? Any trips for either method?
I go on a fishing trip every fall out in Colorado, and most of the Coloridians have never had them. I'd really like to take a bunch of them with me this year. What would you recommend?

JimDog, if I were you I would cut them in half, lightly flour them, put them on a cookie sheet, put them in the freezer, and then vacuum seal them.
But that's just me.

Thanks, griffin. I was going to use fastman's method, but yours seems so much better!

This meathod appears to assume that you will be doing something with them that requires flour on them, when you thaw.

Don't flour them, just freeze.
When your ready to eat don't thaw them first. Egg wash and flour while still frozen and then cook.
Best way yo do for sure!

I've found about 90 so far and I dehydrated some for the first time. Supposed to be able to soak in warm water to re-hydrate and cook. Or if used in soup just add dried pieces.
I'll report back when I try it.
I rekon you could just eat'em like potato chips or popcorn!

If you're fond of bland mealy chips with a truly nasty texture, you should really like them that way.

I stole this one from a facebook friend and only know what was said in the facebook post but supposedly these estimated 750 mushrooms were found last weekend in one patch.

TURN YOUR HEARING AID DOWN DAMNIT!
Yeah....I would just plug the electric skillet into the outlet above the bathroom sink and live on the chitter in happiness for about 4 days.

tried a new recipe tonight and think I'll start using it. Pretty simple. I ground up some pretzels to a fine powder and used that instead of flour, etc. The pretzels already had salt so it gave the mushrooms a great flavor and crispy texture. Eggwash first.
