73-52

125 games played

37 remain

21-16 gives you 94 wins. Snap, just what I predicted.

Major fork up if ya'll miss the playoffs from here.

If not the Div Title, there's really only 3 teams in the WC hunt. Oakland or Angels are solid so it's a 2 team race for the one spot and the Royals have 2.5 game lead on both of them one of which is Detroit who if then gets the div you don't so then it comes down to a 1 on 1 WCrace with Royals still having the 2.5 game lead on Seattle.

Get 'er done.

Guthrie wasn't real good last night but defense let him down when he should have been out of the inning before the grand slam ruined him. I thought that error could have gone either way. Tigers lost 1-0 today so that helps. KC is still motoring along. Need to win their next series in Texas.

15 over .500 and a 2.5 lead over the Tigers (who apparently decided to play a football game last night with the Twins and lost )

72-56 now....3 1/2 ahead of the Tigers but it looks as if it will just be 3 at the end of the Tigers game tonight if they hold on.

One more with Texas tomorrow and then a 10 game home stand. Should not be many empty seats at the K...just hope they can hold it together for a few more weeks tto capture the division title.

there won't be many empty seats with NY in town and all the Yankee fans filling the stands. Royals could have used the day off to rest up but maybe the heat will cause them to hit the ball today.

Offense struggled again but a bloop and a blast for a walk off against their closer !! Could be huge. Sending out a call up vs the Twinkies best starter . Not the prescription for another W.

Oh yeah they only need to go 13 - 18 for me to get free booze.

Now 73-58.. How many wins will it take to win the Central ? 90? They would need to go 17 - 14. I hope they don't do what they done before this year - follow up a good run with a bad one..

From the Post Dispatch Tipsheet column

"We're in a pennant race. We've been working hard to try to make our fans happy and make our fans proud of us for a lot of years, and we'd like them out here to enjoy a night like this with us, because this was a special night. A fun night. I just wish there could have been more out here to enjoy it with us."

Royals manager Ned Yost, after his team drew just 13,847 fans to their thrilling 2-1 victory over the Twins.

Game was on fox sports here. Great ending.

Couldn't believe the sparse crowd.

Glad Yost called them out. Nicely.

Another big comeback win tonight! Lots of fun to watch them. The Aussie kid threw way better than anyone could have even imagined. And the Tigers got spanked as well so the lead is back to 2.5. Sanchez had a setback in his rehab and might be gone for the year. D. Price gave up 8 runs in two innings tonight. A lot of baseball left but the Tiger Train could be getting ready to de-rail..

I said 90 wins before the season started. Looks like they might do a little better than that the way they are playing. Looks more like 92 wins now.

Yost said on 810 radio yesterday morning that what he meant by the fans remark was that they are in a pennant race and he just wished more fans were able to experience the excitement. Really don't think he was intentionally dissing the fans. He's just not real good at speaking off the cuff sometimes.

Royals lead baseball with having 8 players with 40+ RBIs on their team. If you count Willingham, they have 9; but a bunch of his were with another team. Truly a team effort in their wins.

And now for the rest of the story:

Speaking of strange ideas, Royals catcher Salvador Perez revealed that he wears ladies perfume during games, and even better, umpires love it. Now we know what's behind that AL Central surge by "HomeofToto" City.

Why is Bruce "I can't break a pane of glass with my fastball" Chen even on this team?
When he came in to pitch last night, I knew what was going to happen, and turned the TV off. Glad I missed it - here was his line:1 inning 5 hits 6 runs all earned 2 walks 1 strikeout 36 pitches 16 balls-20-strikes
He now has a sparkling ERA of 7.45 and hitters are batting .343 against him. Again I say - WTF is he taking up a roster spot?

It finally got down to Ned taking a couple too many gambles to win that game and Chen was all that was left except Scott Downs who had just come off DL. Bet you don't see Chen after September 1 call-up from the minors, etc. I also don't think he will be on the playoff roster (still assuming we get there). Everything Chen threw after the first batter was a lollipop up in the strike zone.

The series with Cleveland which starts tonight is pretty important since they are in the Division.

How the hell do you have 9 hits and 9 walks and only score two runs????
