I figured the ground was still too cold, but we found just under 2 dozen blacks yesterday. Some look like they just popped up that afternoon after the rain went thru. Lots of leaf litter to push thru and the ones we found were in spots of bare ground that likely warmed up faster.
Most were found on ridge tops rather than the bottoms.
Still early, but it's damn close

I am predicting Monday through Thursday will be a bonanza. A good soaking this weekend and sunny days most of next week. Picking up some extra butter at the store over the weekend.

I'm not saying if you wait until next week it will be too late to find some, but I've given away over 4 pounds of mushrooms in the last couple days. The Reds all went to someone else. The public land we hit has been hit harder than a $100 whore on nickle night. Sunday I watched 5 dudes walk out with 4 Walmart bag full. Storm chased us off or we could have done the same. Close to 100 in a little over an hour today. I wish I had a full day to pick, I bet I could hit 4-500 in a day. Rain this weekend will only make it that much better. Picked 65 off one tree yesterday. Worst thing is the shits I've had since last weekend.
