Your first waterfowl gun....?
      #254964 - 04/23/17 07:28 PM

What was it? And where did you get it?

My Dad had an old Baker 12 gauge side by side. The stock had long since badly cracked and duct tape kept it serviceable. I am guessing a 28" barrel,; it had a front and rear trigger.

I shot that old piece for a couple years until the relic commenced to firing both barrels simultaneously. I am certain Dad pitched it into the bottom of Little Parsons creek, joining the myriad beer cans he'd chucked there. Times we different back then I reckon...

So what gun was your first? Do you have it still??

I can buy a dead-ringer of this gun for $350 on Ebay.
Is that a decent price you reckon???

Warnt ebay dabs, some gun website I ran accross.
I think mebbe I'll pop on it since I spent my first years with one before I was a teenager.

Also on the market for handgun of some sort. Then get a CC permit so I can be legal. I am getting to that age where an equalizer makes sense....

Stevens 12 gauge side by side, front and rear trigger, bought new from Western Auto as a Xmas present when I was 11. Still have it, but the stock cracked all to hell a few years ago when I was dove hunting and dropped it, or maybe I threw it in disgust, can't remember. Too much water on it over the years I guess.....was dry rotted. I suppose I'll try to find a new stock for it someday.

Model 12

Dad got it and a couple of boxes of shells around 1960.

Bought $50 for the lot as I recall.

Winchester 1200 12ga pump. Dad bought it for us brothers to share, in 1976 or thereabouts. I was the only one that really too to hunting at a young age, so I ended up with it. Still have it to this day. In fact, I have every gun that I ever bought or was given. Never sold or traded one..

Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag.
Don't have it anymore.

Oh yeah, bought it new at the Stratford Inn gun show in Fenton, across from the Chrysler Plant.

I grew up shooting family guns until I was about 12. Save 16 ga single shot, and a Charles Daley 12 O/U. When I was about 12, I bought a winchester 1300 20 for $100 brand new with money that I made mowing lawns ( at $4 per cutting). was only a few years, and I upgraded to a used Winchester 101 12 ga, that I gave $200 for.

Remington Sportsman Auto 12. Sold it several years, but I've been trying to find another one like it. 2 3/4" gun. Was great for quail and pheasants also.

we don't have fancy wetlands down here in the hills. all we had as kids was farm ponds and cricks. ethics aside, i'd pop em with a .22 and my cousin would come in behind with the scattergun and get what he could once they took to the air.
we grew up as quail hunters..
