How to Host/Post/Resize Pics
      #255461 - 07/20/17 09:22 AM

Open a free account somewhere, to host the pics you want to post. I just switched to postimg.cc because Photobucket started charging large fees.

https://postimg.cc/

Once you've created an account, make folders to manage your pics. (GIFs, Hunting, Family, etc.). Bookmark that folders page, so it goes right where you need it to decide what you're going to do.
I only have three folders so far;

Click the folder you want to use, which will bring up the Upload page. Click Choose Images, to browse for/select the pics you want to put in there, then click Upload.

Once that's done, you'll get a screen with different options. You can upload more, go to that folder, Home, etc. I clicked the name of the folder I'm using for this tutorial (Help Files), so I could access all the screen caps I'm using here.

Choose the pic you want to use, then hover the cursor over it. Click on the Share symbol, which will bring up a list.

On that list, click the icon for Hotlink To Forums, which will copy the url, then click Close.

Once all of that is done, start your thread here (or wherever), and when you have the cursor exactly where you want the pic, hold down Control and press V. (Just once; if you hit it more times, or hold it down, it'll keep Pasting the url over and over).

PostImg.org gives you options for resizing (though I didn't go through that above;it's an option on the Upload screen, above Choose Images), but you can also do it in programs on your computer. MSPaint comes with Windows, and that's what I'll describe here, but I installed and use Paint.net because it works better.

To use MSPaint;

To open a pic to work with:

Find the picture you want to work with, right click it, then in the menu hover over "Open with" and choose PAINT.

--------------------------------------------------------

To rotate the pic:

Above Image click Rotate, click the proper buttons to to get your pic rotated how you want it, then OK.

---------------------------------------------------------

To resize the pic:

Above Image click Resize.

Click Pixels, then change the numbers to whatever you want. My pics are always bigger than I want for posting, so I just change the highest number to 1,000. That size fits well on all the forums I use.

--------------------------------------------------------

Saving the changes when you're done:

If you want to change the original pic, just click the red X to close it, and then click "Yes" when asked if you want to save the changes. If you don't want the original changed...

Click File, Save As..., JPEG, then decide on a new name and the location you want it stored. Usually the altered ones go on my Desktop, since I'm about to post them, then I delete the altered pic once posted. The original stays the same.

--------------------------------------------------------

Some of the names will vary with different versions of Windows, but this should be close enough that you can tell what to do.

Good work Kurt

We appreciate your posting since we do not have a professional administrator that has to answer to advertisers etc like some forums.

How did the chicken coop work out??

We might need to create a new 'carpentry' project dealio for this dump and you may be just the hombre to ride herd on it

There was a crooked man, who built a crooked house...

Thanks, glad to help.

I think the coop turned out really nice, at least in my backwoods ways.

We even upgraded the goat pen a bit.

(Good additional test of image hosting).

I don't know why these pics don't show anymore. I haven't changed anything in the folder at PostImg. I'm trying to figure it out, and will fix it when I can.

Where did you have them uploaded?

You might have to check postimg.org's URL for the image and while you are there check and see if they applied a time limit for the image.

I looked around a bit, but I don't see anything about pics having a time limit.

Here's the folder that contains these pics;

All of the images were pointed to postage.ORG. They should have been pointing to postage.CC. postage.org is dead.

I had some Russian hacker buddies hack into the backend database and fix it for ya.

Tell your Russian friends that I appreciate the help.

I don't know how it could have gotten changed though; those were copied directly using their Share links.

Testing another one;
