...remember to keep your tailgates up this weekend. And don't forget to take off those silly orange hats and vests, after you get out of the woods... You look like a goof driving around in blaze orange!!
Carry on!!

I do not want to put the stinky bastards inside my van, so I will be tieing them to the top racks. I am going to wear my blaze orange into the strip joint as well. It may be a new tradition for me.

Last time I checked, I could care less what people thought of my deer being seen by non-hunters. Also, I think its a tradition to show off your kill. I could give a sh_t what any peta member or any other animal lover thinks about my dead deer. My tax dollars, license fees, tag fees etc give me the right to show off my kill. Me and my fellow hunters who agree with me unite.

sptsman -
you take off your Mossy Oak Shadow Grass when going in for the morning coffee at the Quick Trip on the way to the pit?
Somewhere between you and brettcope is the answer.
By all means - please be a proud hunter - put all of your clothing that might identify you with deer hunting in a non-see through container on the way and way back from the field....and if you kill somethin......sorry, harvest something, plesae take a cloth and wipe any blood that might be on the outside of your vehicle off.
For all of those who have kids that play soccer - please don't let them wear their soccer clothes to and from the field or into a store on the way or way home....you would not want the society to know they were soccer players :wow:

Yes, I do take off my orange, unless I am driving to another deer spot within 10 minutes of first spot. I concur with you on people wearing orange while there doing their morining chores.

Sheep and goats have horns....deer have antlers for Christ's sakes. You don't call a buck a ram or stag, so try to get the animals parts right.

Fork all that. Back when I felt compelled to wack a goat, we'd haul the deer home settin on and tied to the three 4 wheelers we was towin. Now I realise this was blatant, but really..............it was too funny. It aint like it would have been any better if they was layin on the trailer around the bikes, but it shore was unique.

Driving back from hunting, about noon today, I passed a church beside the highway out in the boondocks of eastern Douglas county. Church was just letting out, people were going to their cars (well, pickup trucks), and I counted FIVE men wearing blaze-orange hunter caps.
That's at church! I guess hunters aren't too ashamed of themselves in this part of the state, huh? I don't think we oughta let the liberals make us ashamed of hunting at all, and us acting like we are kind of implies that those nut jobs are right.
Wear your orange in K.C. and StL. and maybe city folks will understand that not all food comes from the supermarket, and that some people still know how to go out and get it from the land. If they don't like that, screw 'em.
BTW, I got a nice buck yesterday.

It has nothing to do with being ashamed... You just look stupid...

I can't put my tail gate up because I haul my 4-wheeler. That being said Saturday evening we had a BB on the front rack of the 4-wheeler, a doe's feet sticking up on one side of the bed, both ramps on the other, and my 160" gross 10-pointers head sticking out the back between the 4-wheelers rear wheels.
I was wearing my camouflage hat though!
Had several people honk and give the up on the highway on the way home.
My 10 year old grand daughter spent the day yesterday grinding sausage meat and watching us butcher, didn't bother her a bit. In fact, she wants to go try to get her own deer next year.

Naw, we didn't get a picture of this deer. I got him early, and I had him skinned, quartered, and in an ice chest before the other guys got back to the cabin. He was just a six-point, but fairly big for around here - about 140 lbs. live weight, I'd say. It was a 12-yard shot with a .30-30, something even I can handle.
I don't run around in an orange vest except when I'm hunting. If I happen to grab an orange ballcap instead of the blue "MFA Propane" one when I go to town, well, who cares?
'Cause if I look stupid, I'm doing it in front of a younger generation that's tattooed, nose-pierced, eyebrow-pierced, lip-pierced, tongue-pierced, nipple-pierced, and belly-button pierced. There's guys wearing earrings and baggy pants with their butt-cracks showing, hair sticking straight up like they just got out of bed, and wearing their ballcaps backwards or sideways.
If I look stupid, I've got a whole lot of company these days.
