The Phillips station up the street from me.....
      #192580 - 09/20/09 09:25 PM

got some Sierra Nevada Torpedo a few weeks ago.....and I started buying it, figuring it would be gone soon since they only had 2 cases that I could tell......1 cold and 1 warm.

So I start buying a six or 12 every time I go in there.....and next thing I know there is 3 more cases....and so, much as I try, I can't quit buying some every time I'm in there.....and the damn stuff is forking KILLING me....I love it and it's wearing me out....drink 6 or 8 or 10 of those suckers of a night and the mornings ain't as good as they used to be.

So tonight I see the manager and I says, "hey, why did you start carrying the Torpedo and quit carrying the Pale Ale (which became my "go to" beer about 6 months ago).

Dude says, "man, we got the Torpedo by mistake, but the first few cases went so fast that we figured we'd just start ordering that instead of the Pale Ale".

I says, "look mofo, I'M THE BASTARD BUYING ALL OF IT!!!, and it's hurting me bad......stop ordering it and I'll quit drinking it....or order a case a month and I'll buy it, but get me some Pale Ale back in this dump."

I don't know which one of you suckers convinced me a few years ago to try some hoppy beer.....but I hate your ass.....truly.

I'm pretty sure that was me, 'cause you didn't appreciate anything but BUUUD at the time, and you were making fun of my "foo-foo" beers. I had no idea that once you got introduced to more interesting brews you'd become an addict.

For what it's worth I did the exact same thing to my captain about 25 years ago. A few years after that he took an early medical retirement when his liver blew up and they removed his pancreas and part of one foot. I think he was still coughing up bottle caps occasionally until a couple of years ago, when that deal finally killed him.

Glad I could help.

He was already addict. You just changed the direction and added to his waistline....

Micro-brews are kinda like Martini's.
If you act high falutin about it no one will realize that you are a drunk.

Seems to remember I introduced a few of you fellers to the charms of Schlafly Dry-Hopped APA a couple years back, but I could be wrong.

I do like the Torpedo, but thankfully no stores nearby keep it on the shelf for me. Its a troublemaker for sure.

BTW - hows you supposed to put some pictures up? I took a few pictures of my hops that I thought I'd share, but confounded computers aint my strong suit.

Even though I lost at least half my crop this year to some strange fungus or microscopic critter, I still managed a couple colanders full of sticky, green buds. The smell was wonderful. Got 'em dried out and in the freezer, ready to brew.
