This happened at my home track on Saturday night.

Short story is this is a 350 Supermodified. A big block, they would run methanol, but these run on racing gas. A tire on the front of this car went down, just as he crossed the finish line in 2nd place.

It only took the track's safety team 45 seconds, from the time of impact, to extinguish it. This safety crew does an incredible job, and that's why I love my home track.

That's the driver escaping, head first. He's through the skin grafts, for 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his hands, elbows and one forearm, and they were more severe than the doctors originally thought. Otherwise, his only other injury is to his eyes, as his sight is clouded.

This photo, and lots of others, with no explanation, or reports of the driver's condition, is what I woke up to Sunday morning.

Now that he's through some procedures, and his prognosis is good, this is how good firemen can be.... https://pix.sfly.com/UYqSA9 I hope there is some way to make this image work.....

One photo worked....lucky dude for sure!

Guy I worked with for about 5 years raced just about anything. Lots of battle scars.

About 15 years ago he wrecked in a motocross race - broke both ankles bad and spent 6 months in a wheelchair, was told he would probably never walk again.

He proved them wrong and switched from bikes to open class dirt track late models. Was pretty good at that and was offered a driver position in non-winged sprints and did both for a number of years.

He gave it up about 4 years ago and went back to motocross because his sons started running them. A guy talked him into running his non winged sprint last year and about 6 weeks into the series was racing after a pretty good rain - they had worked the track but his front right caught going around a corner and he catapulted into the air - there is video catching the wreck showing the car flipping end over end six times and it was as high as the lights on the light poles. Landed on its top and he crawled out and felt something wrong in his neck.

Broke three of his vertebrae and now has a steel rod down both side of his neck. Can’t turn his neck side to side and can’t look up. He travels every weekend with his boys and has a shop about 1/2 mile down the road from our new house. I stopped in last week and he is thinking about buying another motorcycle...his wife isn’t happy 😂

See, on social media, everyone jumps on the drama immediately, with just a photo like the one I posted, with no knowledge of the outcome. Just share. Same thing probably happened with your friend's accident.

Then everyone else's reaction is "OMG!". STILL NO DETAILS. Still no regard for the driver's family and friends who also have no knowledge of what's going on.

This is called "reporting" now. Just jump on the story.

You can't say on the social media, that you know his wife is mad either, even if it IS true. Blocked, Dude.

We've got a little track up here that streams races for free, and the same streaming meemees that are watching for accidents, and "reporting", will tell you what happened in 1971, even if they weren't born.

I hate everyone, and I always heart their posts.

And there you have it....common sense.

Last weekend this driver returned to race, for the first time since his accident.

Only ONE person, who was well informed of the situation regarding this accident, reported his return.

No streaming me-mes! There's just not enough drama involved for them to post, so they don't.

Drama seems to be the driving force in most things today.

And, whether he won or not, I am sure he received a participation trophy

Happy Friday.

Well, more drama ensued when more people found out that there is no rule, in regards to drivers wearing gloves, to protect themselves in a fire like this.

Some people think that anyone not wearing them, are total idiots.

Some drivers prefer not to, because they say they are unable to use the quick release on their harnesses as fast as they would like to, in a fire like this.

PPE almost always causes another problem.

I say, if those cars were running methanol, the chances of this fire igniting would have been greatly reduced. End of story.

Happy Saturday! Off to a wedding tomorrow!
