Wader boot repair
      #193934 - 10/12/09 09:55 PM

Anybody ever had to repair a puncture in the sole of a pair of wader boots? What did you use? I tried several unsuccesful attempts to repair it last season, ended up hunting with a cold wet foot most of the year.

Seam seal....2-3 coats, more plyable than goo. Noticed in the cabelas propoganda that they have a new "30 seconds to set" version to, not sure about that one.

for a sole pucnture I would try a tire plug or tire patch before just slathering some "goo" on the area.

I did the same thing Swampy talked about.

Had a nail go throught the soul of mine two years ago. Took it to the tire shop and had them put one of the pro grade tire patches on it. Sealed it up tighter than a gnats ass stretched over a 55 gallon barrel.

Swampy, I think you've got the idea. I'm gonna go with one of those red sticky-ass tire plugs then give it a good smothering of somekind of goo. Might even take it down to Big-O and have a patch put on the SOB too. Thanks for the input fellas.

Dabs, I've heard some of the tire patches won't stick so well to rubber boots. Did they use one of those patches that they light on fire to bond the rubber?

Yep - make sure they score it with that little roto-tool and use the alcohol based cleaner on it first....then the put the patch on with the glue and lite it on fire...worked great.

I used shoe goo - seam sealer - gasket sealer and a couple other things trying ti before then but nothing worked till that point.

Nathan D, If ya would get yer waders at Cowbella's, you could get a new pair. My waders suddenly go bad every year, about two days after duck season closes. It's the dangdest thing how it happens. And as someone said once, not rocket science.

PS, I don't believe NATHAN D has boot-foot waders anyhow... you'd be more of a stocking foot wader kind of a topwarter.

How's yer supply of Buck Gardner calls, 3.5" Wolf steel 6s, and Armoralle'd Flambeau's?

Timmy -

point being - they did knott leak anymore

Flash Gordon (Bazinga ) - be careful about the Cabela's thing from this point - they changed their return policy as of last month...now you must have receipt or you will only get credit back on the lowest price they have had on the product for the last two years or something like that......return or exchange. I know it aint rocket science, but I think they put a nuclear physicist on staff

Just by co inky dink, I always seem to happen to just by chance have ALL the paperwork, tags, stickers, etc and various chit that comes with each soon to be holy set o waders... in the original box.

Last year, I bought the wif's Xmas presents with the refund they gave me... she LOVED the decoys and shells! Still has em, in fact!

So Cowbella's get the $$ one way or another, therefore the conscience stays as clear as Fast Eddie's Mason jar beverage. And my waders never need tire patches except on that last fateful day.

We gotta keep the Bargain Cave in business somehow, ya know.

But thanks for the info, that's good to know. Knowledge is power.
