I had not been to the boat show in years but went yesterday on some free tickets. Been thinking about upgrading my electronics, so I went to check everything out. While I ended up buying a new Garmin fish finder, that wasn't the story. It turns out people have lost their friggin' minds with these fishin' boats. I saw bass boats for over $80K. Someone told me there was a Ranger there for $109K but I didn't see it. I recall the day when a buddy spent about $25K for a bass boat and I told him he lost his forking mind.
I'm trying to imagine the conversation where I tell the Mrs. that I'm going to drop $80K+ on a bass boat. I envision a frying pan coming at me in a rapid motion...
So, who among us has one of these $60K-$70K+ fishin' boats?
On a related note, I can see it wouldn't take long to spend $5K - $10K on electronics either. I dropped $1,000 this weekend and didn't impress anyone...

my last cartoon rig was a 1999 20' nitro that would run 75mph. i was in my 20's and still dumber than a sack of hammers. it was 20k and i sold it soon after my firstborn came into the world. that's been 17 years ago.
there are times where i miss fishin the lake, but i don't miss the payments, the insurance payments, the continual upkeep, etc. i'm blessed to live on a real nice crick now and that suffices. i have plenty of friends and family with glitter rigs to haul me and i don't mind throwing a lil $$ their way for the fun.

I talked to a guy two weeks ago that was ordering his new bass boat that week. His was all of two years old....
...but....
....as long as your boat is less than two years old - if you place first in a tournament they will give you $10k advertisement money because you used their boat to fish out of.....
....but....
....there has to be a minimum of 60 boats registered in the tournament
They won a tournament on Truman year before last...had 56 boats registered
