at some of my spots this evening.. piss elms and cherry trees are leafing out already. they're going to be out before the redbuds and dogwoods. jonquils popped around super bowl.. everything is a good month early down south this yr..

redbuds are doin it.........mayapple just poppin........we've had timely rains & I observed two
(allbeit small) red mushrooms. Strange daze indeed.

Went to a couple of my honeyholes today and found nothing, nada, zip, zilch!

I agree, everything is a month early. My lawn is already green, my Bella Donna lillies are up at least a foot and crappie were on the bank yesterday. Hell even the spoonbill have run. I heard reports of reds up last week.

75 were picked and et this past weekend along with some catfish, crappie, hushpuppies, fried pickles, homemade onion rings and some green beer..
there ought to be a ton after the next few days

checked a spot or two but nothin yet. We definetly got the moisture. Need the heat again now. Seems like i dont really start finding em until i start plantin corn. Temps say to go ahaead and plant but calender still says its too early.
could be a screwy year. Tall as the grass is gonna be they could be hard to find. Luckily i have a dog that will point em. the weed eater is all tuned up ready to cut em down. Just need volunteers to pick em up and bag em. Hurts my back to bend over.

Rain all around us but we can't buy a drop hardly. Maybe a tenth of an inch last night.
Western MO has flash flooding, IL is getting pounded today.
Somehow we missed out on the moisture.........so far

6.25" here since monday and didn't even come close to flooding the crick in front of the house. damn glad to have it too. we was dry and getting worse

Found 9 fresh greys in my early spot this evening, all about 2 inches......Saturday and Sunday should be good around my place.

Marked 115 small ones tonight. Going to give them a chance to do some growing.
Found just enough large ones to make a nice meal - fish and shrooms - life is good!
Still no rain to speak of though - maybe 2/10 of an inch in the last 5 days!

I've got pics of them on day 1 and I'll prove it to you.
Give me until next Friday and I will show you how much they grow in a week - two weeks even more. I used to believe the same thing but I've been fooling with these things for enough years now to know that good things come to those who wait....as long as some thieven' bastage doesn't stumble across them in the meantime.
Mushrooms DON'T just pop - they grow over time like any other plant.

it's still early, but i had to look at my first post from last year.. yep, same as last yr..
I plowed up a neighbor's garden yesterday and he's already got jonquils/daffodils bloomin.
I don't mind the shrooms coming early, just as long as we get the rain..

Well A guy who works for me almost got killed on 44 Sunday afternoon. A couple of trucks started fish tailing in front of him and he tried to bail. Said he bounced down the highway off the median divider about 5 times and came to a rest safely and without anyone else hitting him. Totaled out the car. Good dude, glad hes alright.
There's that. But me I always have liked a big snow storm. I don't want to live it 24/7 but you can bring it every now and then and it's ok with me.
Back in the day a person couldn't drive down our block without getting bombarded with snow balls. Cops used to come....We had a ball with that chit.
Kids today barely know how to throw one.
