Certainly the weather can bring in some exotic birds which enables birders to add to their lists. I used to once be a "chaser" and had some big year tallies of birds seen in a year in MO. Then birded on a couple more continents since. On a "Big Day" in early May circa 1988, my professor/mentor and I saw 107 different species in NW MO in a day.
