Hey...I'm looking at the following Lenovo computer
web page
To be used for basic home computing (forums, porn sites, online buying of stuff...etc not necessarily in that order). Anyone got any experience with these things?
Its funny I used to be good at electronics. There wasn't a stereo I couldn't set up, a program I couldn't run. A tv, vcr, dvd player I couldn't figure out. I had to help my folks and inlaws set theirs up and couldn't understand why they couldn't figure it out. But I was in my 20's and 30's then...Now I'm 42 and the darn stuff is like Greek to me. I think when ya turn 40 something happens....ya want more sex, ya want to hunt and fish more than ever, and ya can't figure out electronics.

I don't think there is a between any of the laptops in that price range. That one, a Dell, a Toshiba, Acer....whatever. With Vista, the two gig of memory and the Intel processors should do you just fine for home use. You will lose interest in the web cam real fast, so consider looking at a similar Dell with extra video memory and RAM.

I looked really quick, but I didn't see on the spec sheet that it has wireless network available. Just make sure it does.
From what I have been told by Vista users (mostly developers), 2GB will run Vista, but it will be slow.

Uhh...thanks. I think. Yup...just a regular idiot here. Nuttin fancy for me thanks. I don't think a computer should cost 1200 bucks....I'll get by with half that if I can no more use than it gets. Now what can I put the 600 bucks I save toward....Nodak for ducks or part of a trip to Wyoming for elk this fall, or the 7 day fly in trip to Northern Ontario for Walleye and Smallies later this summer, Disney in July for the kids. Its gonna be an expensive year.

And all this time I thought I was the only one that had observed this fact of life
I haven't had one person that bought a Mac laptop that did not have problems

You know me. I have owned about 15 different laptops; dell, gateway, sony and apple. By far the worst - dell. By far the best - Apple. Say what you want about the os - but the quality of Apple hardware is second to none. And if you don't like Mac OS - just run Windoze on the dang thing...

Correction
I do know 1 person...
but JimDog-- you ain't what I'd call the "typical"user
Sorry, but I still have issues from long ago with Apple and for all the gripes that mac folk have about the Redmond monster--if Gates had not had them write office software for the mac it would gone the way of the dodo--even with all the light in the loafer art director types ( ok-- their displays are really pretty good in an over saturated kind of way )
Actually-- if it wasn't for the IPOD...well..I think y'all can fill the rest
