We would like to respond to our loyal customers and provide additional information about recent posts on social media regarding a monetary donation to a local animal care organization. Our post inaccurately stated that a donation was made to The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). Moreover, the post itself was inappropriate under the circumstances.
Family members of an employee who recently passed away requested that, in lieu of flowers, co-workers donate funds to the Humane Association of Northwestern Rhode Island, a local association founded in 1978 to solve community issues primarily related to stray cats. They are not affiliated with HSUS as the posts incorrectly stated.
The money is not a corporate donation, but a collection of personal contributions from employees with the intent of remembering a beloved co-worker. While our intentions were good, the use of corporate social channels under these circumstances was inappropriate.
Muck Boots has a heritage of respect for the outdoors and for nature. We apologize for the anger and confusion the posts have caused and have removed them from our social channels.

Damage control and I'm smelling BS. There's another pic of them out there bragging about raising $2k for HSUS. Two pics with the same thing in it?? Hard for auto correct to spell out "The Humane Society of the United States" and then link to it on the Facebook..
I can't post a pic, due to filters, but if you get on their Facebook page (The Original Muck Boot Company) and look under "Photos of The Original Muck Boot Company" tab, you'll see screen shots of people who saved the original posts/pics before Muck deleted them..
Oh yeah, from what I can tell, the "family member" whom died was a dog...

I have little doubt they stepped in it and this is all damage control. On the bright side, they learned very quickly where their bread is buttered and I doubt you'll see another misstep like this.
I just got my first pair of Muck boots last year. They are remarkably comfortable and well fitting. Of course they will be just as valuable as the $39.00 pair of Redhead boots I have been buying for the last 10+ years, when I put a hole in them...

I just looked at their Facebook page and it is ugly. The 700+ comments over the past few days are about 25 to 1 in favor of burning your Muck boots and never doing business with the company again. I haven't seen a an internet beating like this since huntoften was on this site...
Gotta love this internet thing. I am up to 6,437 companies that I am boycotting and will never do business with again. I'm not sure what I will eat or where I will buy clothes but dammit I am mad at some companies!!
