World Cup
      #244686 - 06/12/14 11:28 AM

Going to be as much to see off the pitch as on. That is one forked up country!!

I think we're going to see a few upsets but at the end of the day, it will be the favorites in the finals. The winner will come from this pool: Brazil, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Germany. Look for good showings from Belgium, USA and France but I don't think any of them can beat the powerhouses.

If you had to pick one winner, I think it has to be Brazil. The home field advantage is very real there. You may also have a few officials that will fear for their life, if they don't call the game as the Brazilian fans might want them to...

As predicted, Brazil was given a freebee on a very bad call by the ref. Odds are good he will not officiate another game in the WC but he'll also not have to pay for a drink, meal or hooker while he is in Brazil...

I believe that in order for futbol to be more authentic the players should have to hold and protect the nuts of the player next to them instead of their own on penalty kicks.

I understand that there are calls/no calls that are questionable in a soccer game. But to have every one of them going one teams way is highly questionable. I understand the Croatian coach's saying they might as well just pack up and go home. If all of Brazil's games are going to be officiated this way, might as well skip playing the rest of the games, let all of the players from all the teams party their asses off and just give Brazil the trophy now.

Fred should get an Oscar for that dive on a shoulder tap.... but I thought the keeper interference call was even worse....

WOnder if the ref has converted his Reals to Yen yet? He should have gotten a bunch!

I know they try to get a ref from a nuetral continent but he was shakey

Don't forget the blatant Brazilian foul that wasn't called that sprung them for their third goal. Or the fact that Neymar shouldn't have even been on the field for the elbow he threw. That was probably the worst case of one-sided refereeing I have seen in a while. Brazil was the better team talent wise but Croatia deserved better.

The Netherlands destroyed Spain today 5 - 1. For those that don't watch soccer, think what the Seahags did the Pony's in the Super Bowl.. only worse!

Bro....settle down, it's soccer....let's think about something more appropriate, like what the Little Sisters of the Poor did to the Our Little Tykes Preschool.

You must have been watching something besides soccer if there was no falling down and rolling around.

The powerhouse known as Spain sure was impressive against the Netherlands.

Nice call Andy.

Much of this is true of course but.........my Bosnian painters are happy as hell with those refs.

Did you pay any attention to the reaction of the rest of the world? It was pretty much, shock!! Nobody saw that coming...

For a guy that claims to hate soccer, you sure have plenty to say about it and seem to be on the soccer threads with some degree of regularity. Another closet soccer fan...

Hell, I bet it's 4 or 5 to 1 for the Netherlands. Spain will come out fast but I bet they grossly underestimate the speed of the Netherlands.

As for Germany.....Muller is due for a BIG game.

What a great game to watch!!! Once Altidore went down, the game plan was to just hold on. The defense and midfield did a remarkable job holding them off. What made the game great, aside from the win was that all three goals were just classic!!! That heel touch to feed Ayew was so cool. Dempsey's goal was Messi-like. And any goal off a set piece is almost always a piece of art. The Brooks goal was just that...

Tim Howard was about as good as you could ask him to be. But he has become one of the games best keepers. The dude has the perfect combination of athleticism and smarts. He seems to have that instinct for when to come off his line and when to stay back. He is so fun to watch...

Unfortunately, the next game will be a real uphill climb without Altidore. I suspect he is done for the whole WC. And Portugal had a little something to prove after the arse whoopin' the krauts put on them. But hey, why not?

I about spit my whiskey out with that first goal.

After that, I think Hitch got on the bench and coached the next 80 minutes.

And the last one....I think Ron Howard wrote the script.

One more win and I'm thinkin it's dam near automatic advance. I suggest we get that win against the Guinea's on Sunday.
