T.J. Oshie......
      #176263 - 02/11/09 09:07 AM

may just be the most undisciplined, deranged, pin ball wheeling lunatic to ever wear the note........it's about time we got one of 'em.

If Murray doesn't kill him by letting him attack so relentlessly.....the kid will help lead the team to some great things.

He's the most fun I've had watching hockey in 10 years.

I love that kid. He is a perfect combination of a checking line grinder and a 1st line scorer. Rare combination...

Mostly he's crazy.

You're right, he's a rare find......but he's only rare because most of his kind have crashed into the boards and broke their necks at a young age.

And that is why he keeps ending up on the DL. I was not so enthused about this kid coming out of college but he has changed my mind this year. He is Brendan Shanahan with a loose screw. If Murray is smart enough to keep him on a line with McDonald, LOOK OUT!!

Go blue!!

I will keep watching and rooting for them but I don't see them making the playoffs this year. Too many things out of their control for it to happen. And quite frankly, they aren't exactly taking care of business with the things that are in their control. The loss Tuesday night was inexcusable and Mason needs to show he can carry the load CONSISTENTLY!!

Here's what I want to see for the rest of the year: Keep Kariya on the shelf unless he is 100% healthy. If they rush him back, he could be damaged for good. Let him heal and be a part of the winning season next year. Unless they are within a point of two of making the playoffs, don't take chances with him. Second, trade Tkachuk for a first round draft pick or a solid young player that can grow with this team. If they want to resign Tkachuk in the off-season, so be it. It doesn't excite me but it doesn't piss me off either. I used to hate him but he has changed my opinion a bit, now that he is in shape and contributes. I just don't see him taking this team to The Cup. Third, keep playing and developing these young guys. I am very impressed with the core of young players and how they are developing.

And finally, I would give Anaheim any player and possibly any two players they wanted for Pronger. He is on the down side of his career and still one of the top 3 defensemen in the league. Considering that moving the puck out of the defensive end is still one of the weak spots for the Blues, he would be the answer. Can you imagine a defense with Proger, Erik Johnson, Polak, etc...

Well maybe but.........imo we don't need Pronger now....how much would he cost?...nice memories and that'll do.
Secondly, I say let Tkachuk go but do their best to fill the spot with another and younger marquee type guy.
And you're right about Mason....if he can produce we have a shot if not forgetaboutit.
I guess Bishop needs more work....I thought maybe we'd see him up here AND PLAYING some but...........not.

Oshie maybe good, but the Blues have a terrible defense and their goalkeeping is more than suspect. They are giving another one away tonight.

Oshie gets an assist, defense plays better, goalie was outstanding and Blues win 1-0. Soon as I biatch about them they turn it around. Griped about the Tigers after the first half against KU and they one. I'm beginning to see a pattern.

I will strongly disagree with you on that. They have a very, very young and inexperienced defense that is missing two of the best three defenders on the team. Add in the McKee injury and it is worse. Even with this, the defense has managed to play decent.

Look at the average "games played" for other teams and look at the Blues. I think they only have 2 guys with over 350 games of experience. That is almost unheard of in the NHL.

Dada - if I were you......I would not argue hockey much with Andy. I've been a diehard Blues fan since 1967....and Sptsman doesn't miss much when it comes to the game, and he's right on the money this time too.

I Know, I know.....he's a soccer mom....go figure.

If the Blues would have had a goalie through the first half of the season we would have been fine. The old habit of signing someone else's throwaways has not paid off. I believe we hold the all time record for number of goalies to start a game for one team.

Yeah I agree on that.....when I was thinkin bout our chances to make the playoffs it is the one hole that ain't gonna go away. I don't think Mason is terrible but he ain't gonna carry us very far either.
I like our defense warts and all.....they play pretty chippy. bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
The Johnson shenanigan has been a disaster. What a dumbfork.

Mason has the God-given talent to take any team to The Cup. what remains to be seen is if he has what it takes, between the ears. That was the knock on him in Nashville. They saw his talents and couldn't deal with the disconnect in his game. Hopefully, Wamsley can help him get it together.

Consider that the Blues got him for a 4th round pick. It wasn't like they gave up top-tier talent for him.

Don't look for Bishop this year or even next. The soonest you'd see him as a regular would be the season after next. They say he has a lot of talent but some pretty big holes in his game. He'll get the instruction and playing time he needs in Peoria. If it all pans out, he could be something in a few years. Personally, I wouldn't bet a plug nickel on it. The dude is 6'-7" tall. I know there have been a few successful tall goalies in the NHL over the years (our own Mike Liut) but they are the exception and not the rule. Add to that fact, the reality that today's game requires more and more dexterity and flexibility and it just gets harder and harder for the tall guys. I'll put my money on this new kid, Jake Allen. Of course we won't see him for 3 years but he's the real deal. And I don't know what the deal is with Schwarz. He just doesn't seem to be able to show ANY consistency.

In the end, I also have to wonder if the netminder position will haunt them for the next few years...

Well the next few years I could take if it weren't for all the past years of mediocrity. As if Grant Furh's name alone could do it even though he was clearly well past prime with injuries every other period. ( ADIOS TO 5 YEARS THERE)

I admit we are not alone in this quest...but after 40 years of dry holes it is time to bring a damn Cup to town.

Great win last night against the Rangers. After Strachan got his clocked cleaned by New York's Colton Orr, Cam Janssen came back and pummeled Aaron Voros. And it wasn't even close (that battle was classic Gordie Howe-style beating). After that it was like watching a different game. The Note turned it up a notch!!

Too bad this hole is seven points deep. They can still make the playoffs but they'll really need some help. In the unlikely event they make it, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them advance a round. I doubt they would go any further than that but it wouldn't be for lack of effort.

Go Blue!!!

All I can go by is what I have seen in the lst three games I have watched. Way too many giveaways in the defensive end, failure to clear the zone, and a general lack of toughness. Jackman is not a top line defender. I too have followed the Blures since 1967. We had season tickets for years. Mebbe I'll see the defense in a different light when they get everyone back and healthy.

The only problem I see in the defense, and with their game in general, is that they don't move the puck out of their end with any authority. A team that forechecks like the Blues do eats them up. BUT.....if you look at goals against, we are in the top 6-8 in the Conference as it changes from week to week. Defense isn't really a huge problem.....but getting the transition game going is. We'd put up alot more points if that end of the game gets some work.

Hence, we need Pronger or a Proger type. No doubt that Johnson will be that guy but it will take another 2-5 years before he is the seasoned defenseman that can change a game. He will be an important cog in the machine next year but it would be foolish to think he will be the answer, short term.

I think they were hoping Brewer would be that guy but he is proving not to be the answer. He's a solid #2 or #3 line defenseman but not the guy we need... Did Bobby Orr have kids or grandkids?

Again, considering the average age, experience level, the injuries and difficulty of the schedule, I'm not at all unhappy with this defense...

What's the deal with wagner? I think he always plays hard with some good speed but they bounce him back to Peoria like a yo yo.

Still looking back on those two tough/bad losses last week....we could use those points right about now.

Last night's game is why they won't make the playoffs...

A key Conference game, with one of the teams they're chasing and they lay an egg. The third period was as good as you'll see the play. Unfortunately for the Blues, they play 3 periods in a game and you have to show up for all 3.

I just saw last 5 of the 2nd and then all of the third......of the 4 goals were any on Mason?

I agree it's not looking good....every damn time they get a head of steam they let up and lose the close one....or two.

There ain't no more room for this.

THat was a tired hockey team.....you have to look at the coaching when that happens. If your going to forecheck like the Blues do then you need to have more rest.....especially this time of year.

I saw tired legs last night.....20 seconds into a shift and some of those guys were gassed.
