You may have skipped over this 6 part interview, because you did not know Red's host. Dini Petty was a traffic reporter, writer and news anchor, who eventually had her own morning talk show in Toronto. This is a rare interview with Red, as he did not give live interviews. Always entertaining - here's a few things that this interview reveal about his life and career.

Some people - mistakenly - believed that Red was Canadian, as he did make his comedic start here. A consummate artist, he sketched and wrote - everyday - and kept each and everything he wrote in the form of 1,600 books. Each day, he wrote:

Five interesting things that happened that day

AND:

Five NEW things that he learned that day.

And, he didn't re-read these things, as he said he had no interest in re-living them.

-------------------------

Beyond that, his paintings and other crafts are well known, but in this interview he reveals why you won't see The Red Skelton Hour re-runs on TV.

He owned the rights to that show, and never wanted his jokes to be mistaken for George Carlin, Eddie Murphy or other more outspoken comedy acts of his time, or in the future. Therefore, he wanted the right to tell broadcasters WHEN to air his show, so his act wouldn't be mistaken for theirs, ever in his lifetime, and probably, not in ours.....
