It's not really hammerless like today's striker fired pistols. The hammer is enclosed in the arch part at the rear of the slide. Try searching for "general officers colt", there is a book about them on Amazon. Cool stuff, post pics if you have them. If the economy was such that people had a lot of loose cash, you may have a $2K gun there.
