Isn't Hitchcock supposed to be known as some kind..

..of defensive genius as a coach? WTF is going on? 21 goals against in regulation in the last 4 games? Is the Note in some kind of free fall? It is painful to watch. The first goal Elliot gave up tonight was the softest goal I've seen in a whiole. OUCH!

He's won the Cup. There's that. But there's more to him, including a much different coaching style today than in the past that he himself has acknowledged. As for Hitch being the problem or even a part of it, I'm not going there. He has told this team how to play and how to win from experience. The players have to play.

The D has been cheating all season. We got away with it early on but no more. I do not think...scratch that... I KNOW there have been more breakaways this year so far the than all of last year. And some of our forwards have been worthless behind the blue line.

And the goal tending is below average, actually on many nights it's been out right bad. Elliott is so goofed up right now that Allen the rookie gets the start Monday night.

Most all teams hit some trouble at one time or another. We seem to be in BIG trouble but part of turning things around has got to be solid goal tending. So Hitch can change lines, scratch his line up, alter work outs or whatever....in the end enough SOFT GOALS will absolutely kill a teams drive and momentum.

I'm not putting it all on Elliott or Halak, not by a long shot, BUT better goal tending is a MUST if we want to get back in the hunt.

Re: Isn't Hitchcock supposed to be known as some kind..

Let's hope this is a temporary slide and not a full blown meltdown that can't be fixed. Anyone that has played sports knows that winning begets winning and losing begets losing. Sometimes it gets in your head and eats away like a cancer. With as many young guys as the Blues have and the weak leadership within the ranks, this little slide may not end so easily. Backes is not the strongest of captains and the other veterans aren't exactly stepping up. Throw in some terrible goaltending and this is what you get.

I still think they have too much talent to slide too far. And I think Hitchcock will make them work their way out of it. But look at the Capitals. All that talent and they can't figure it out.

If they can't get up for tonight's game against LA, they may be doomed...

Go Blue!!

Re: Isn't Hitchcock supposed to be known as some kind..

Backes is proving to be a pretty weak captain. But he lost me during the lockout. Some of the idiotic statements he made showed a level of stupidity that bothered me. He and some of the other "leaders" of this team seem to have little impact on the rest of the team. His play has been mediocre, at best.

Last night's game was just a replay of the last 3; unorganized in both ends of the rink, sporatic physical play, weak, if any, forechecking, terrible goaltending. This is how this team looked 3 and 4 years ago. It is very hard to watch...

Detriot may beat them 10-0 in The Joe tomorrow night...
