Re: 2017-2018 STL BLUES

Somewhere at my parents house there is a piece of a cast from a broken arm I got playing street hockey when I was 10 or so. It's signed by Picard, Gary Sabourin, and Bob Plager. If you were a Blues fan when they first came here then you were a Picard fan. He was a fearsome defenseman.

Some of the funniest moments on hockey radio came when he came back to the Blues as an announcer after his career ended. He could barely speak English and it was hysterical.

Lots of people don't remember that what ended his career was an accident when a horse fell on his leg, basically shattering it to the point where multiple bones stuck through his boot. It was called a career ending injury by every doctor who saw him, but he actually came back and played, although for only a very short time due to loss of mobility....a truly tough guy, like most hockey players in that day.

RIP Mr. Picard.
