I think that's interesting. Beer styles carry on in other unexpected ways too - like with Mexico still making German Oktoberfests 'cause the Krauts built their breweries and taught 'em to brew while trying to get the Mexicans into WWI on the German side.

The original people who started it are all dead, but the preference for certain kinds of beer in different places carries down through the generations. In fact, mainstream American beer started with all those German brewers who immigrated here in the 1870's - hot to trot with that brand-new "lager" brewing process from the homeland.

That stuff's kinda fun to ponder while sipping on a cold one.
