Seems I am always late...

...this time by a couple years apparently.

Never had any experience with woodworking other than my freshman year in high school which was about 30 years ago.

But, the 16 year old aint gonna be around the house but for a couple more years and he bought a small lathe and set it up in the basement to make pens and bottle stops and small items like that. I decided to spend time with him I would take it up too but the pens and bottle stops just didn't interest me...so, we decided a few weeks ago we would experiment with some calls.

I will say it is an addictive hobby for sure. Lots of chunks of wood ended up in the trash trying to get it figured out and, although it still isn't mastered, it has come a long ways.

Then I came upon some old poly inserts for free and turned them into these -

Never plan on being a big named call maker but it is a fun hobby none the less and provides a platform to spend time one of the boys.
