Missouri Basketball Coach

Well is Martin going to be any better in the long run than the one they just fired? Talking heads all say he loses 10-15 games each year at just about all the places he has been. (I haven't checked out their numbers). He, too, will be inheriting a team somewhat in disarray. MU fans, what do you think?

Re: Missouri Basketball Coach

I like the hire. He's from the East side of town. First and foremost I think he can get local talent, and lately here, the STL area alone has produced some blockbuster players. Tigers need to keep the good ones here.

This program is in shambles. It has to start with recruiting. Martin can win some games if he has the right players.

Re: Missouri Basketball Coach

The Porter Brothers come back home. More talent will stay in the state. It was refreshing not to have a weekly police report on the basketball team the past three years. Martin should have been hired before Haith walked away. We should have hired Martin and fired Haith. He could be on year 4 at Mizzou instead of year 1. Mizzou basketball is no longer the Vanderbilt of the basketball programs in the SEC. There is no damn reason we should not have a Top 25 program year in and out.

Re: Missouri Basketball Coach

Being able to pull in the #1 recruit in the country (with another Porter boy in the wings) is a giant coup for a broken program. It cannot be over stated....this is a game changer. Great choice!!!

Mizzou will be back in the tourney within 3 years max.....likely 2. Again, fantastic choice!

Re: Missouri Basketball Coach

Word mown is that John Groce, former Illinois coach will be hired as another assistant. If he does it is likely some of his former recruits will follow him to Mizzou. Jeremiah Tipn is from East STL and is the #24 recruit in the nation 6'10" Power Forward or Center. If Mizzou gets Porter and Tilman, there is a damn good chance they make the tourny next season. Mizzou lost several close games his season and was always competing. They seemed to be one or two good players away from winning. The addition of a couple great players could change that.

Re: Missouri Basketball Coach

Michael Porter Sr. is now a Mizzou assistance coach. MP Jr. was released from his scholarship today at Washington. He will be signing with Mizzou ASAP. One condition of his dad coming was his son had to be released from his NLI at Washington. Done and Done. Put that in your candy and nuts.

#1 recruit in 2017 class 6'10 Michael Porter Jr. will be a Tiger
#32 Recruit in the 2018 class 6'9" Jontay Porter will be a Tiger

Good chance they both will be playing at the same time. Jontay expected to reclassify to the 2017 Class. MP is one and done. Jontay is 2 and done.

Tilmon is yet to say what he is going to do, but his recruiting coach stayed on at Illinois.

The BB team didn't go on a protest to support a racisit cause, so I can support their ass. It was refreshing to not pick up a COMO paper the last 3 seasons and read about the criminal activity around the BB team. For a while, they had their own section devoted to the shootings, fights, drug use, or general just being a POS. We didn't see that under KA. If Martin can bring back Mizzou BB and keep his players out of trouble, I'll back his ass. If he can't keep his players from making the front page of the paper, that isn't the sports section.........you won't hear me complain

Now as far as the football team is concerned, dad and I were talking the other day and I couldn't even remember the head coaches name. I'm still that pissed off at those bastards. Haven't been to a game or tailgate since their protest. Don't plan on it any time soon either.

Could end up being one of be best recruiting classes in the country. Knox considering Mizzou and making a visit. The Porter Brothers, Knox, Tilmon...........it's all candy and nuts and Aunts turning into Uncles, but Knox is the bigger possibility of the players thinking. Mizzou BB was a player or two away from doing great things. MP Jr is a big piece. His little bro would be another piece. Knox or Tilmon would also be making immediate impacts and could push Mizzou to a strong tourney run.

Tilmon signed with Illinois last year. When they fired the head coach, Tilmon is free to leave and go anywhere he wants. How the hell do you think MP Jr came to Mizzou.

Illinois did keep Tilmon's recruiting coach, so he could stay here.

Blake Hariris signed today. Tilmon expected to be released Monday from Illinois. Knox was visiting Mizzou this weekend also. Currently we have the 16th best class in the country. With Tillmon it would jump to the 5th best. Know would make it go even higher. The problem now is scholarships available to be used to sign players. CJ Roberts is still on board. Seems like this class gets better every week.

If and nuts.......Christmas is looking better all the time.
