Lord Stanley's Cup

I was hoping Nashville could find a way to win this thing and still harbor some hope. But that Pens team is just built for winning Cups. Of course having the best player in the game helps but that supporting cast is plenty solid.

As expected, the NHL showed how completely f'd up it is with questionable officiating (what's new) and a replay system that they can't seem to get right. If there is a way to shoot themselves in the foot, this league seems to find a way to do it...

I'm guessing Pens in 5 or 6. Hoping I'm wrong...

Re: Lord Stanley's Cup

All in all, it's been a good set of games for the Cup. Even last night the comeback was impressive in spite of the officiating.

Can't say I have a favorite here. Preds do too much whining and yeah some expert diving too.

They also don't have a clue, they think 20 years is too long a time to wait. Fork 'em. bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Re: Lord Stanley's Cup

Watched the better part of each game and have to say it has been a great series. Looking forward to the final 3 games. I think the Pens still win but the Preds have shown they belong there.

What I wouldn't give to see a Blues team play 60 minutes like that. Every player giving his all with every stride, on every shift, in every period of every game. Can you imagine if slugs like Berglund and Lehtera actually put that kind of effort forth every time out?

Sort of rooting for the Preds now but mostly just enjoying some good hockey games...

Not a preds fan but that assist last night from fisher was pretty cool.

Another 8 seed team with a red hot goalie gets their chance. No Pekka No Cuppa dat fo sho Panky.

Gr8 hockey indeed.

I thought pens might switch goalies the other night.

I think the pens should give Fluery a chance.

Blues ( for the most part ) are whimps compared to the nashville cats & pens.

Winner tonight with the ultimate advantage.

It's like the last election...I don't want either of these forkers to win.

Watching these Cup run games then checking in on baseball .... it's like stepping into the twilight zone of sports. bwaaaaaaaaaaaa

Re: Lord Stanley's Cup

As predicted, the Penguins hoisted the Cup. They're the best team in hockey, in the sense that they are built for the playoffs and winning Cups. I can see them winning again next year.

Praying like hell DA can wheel and deal with this expansion draft to gain some salary cap space...

Re: Lord Stanley's Cup

Actually the expansion draft MIGHT be a wild ride kind of thing for many teams.

Vegas is holding all the cards, well, some anyway....never before has an expansion team been in such a position. Usually, they are dog meat and destined for 10 years in the basement with every body's left overs, but this draft is a bit different.

Vegas can take Reaves and have a deal in place that immediately sends him to ...say...the Blackhawks with draft picks or players for a decent forward. Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants? Who the fork knows. Impossible to predict what Vegas wants or needs.

If I were Vegas I would fill my roster but wheel and deal as many draft picks as possible in the process. That's how they'll get real good as fast as possible, imo.

Dumping a player like Lehtera on them is a great idea but hardly gonna happen without Vegas getting some draft picks. I would not give up our #1 or a second to dump Lehtera, hope DA doesn't either.

Re: Lord Stanley's Cup

The word is they are going to try to build a respectable team but have no illusions that they are going to compete for a few years. Their primary goal is to acquire draft picks that can be used to draft talent and trade for talent. If they play it right, they could be a solid team in a few years. The Blues expansion efforts are now 50 years in and they're still trying to get it right...

If the Blues are going to try to unload anyone they will have to pay for it. Every GM out there knows Lehtera and a few other Blues are albatrosses hanging around DA's neck. They will exploit that, to be sure. My guess is they'll have to package him with a high draft pick and/or a young stud in the organization.

Re: Lord Stanley's Cup

KEEP THE HIGH DRAFT PICKS.

Until this franchise can find a true #1 scoring center it is now apparent the draft that has the best chance of producing one.

I think the Blues are trying hard now to address this position but it can't be another Stasny or Lehtera type player.

The have needed a home run up the middle for 20 years. Lots of swings and misses is all I've seen.
