Hostiles

Saw this with the boss yesterday and we both liked it. Best western type movie in a long time and a lot of good shoot em up scenes for you killers. Pretty good story. Just my 2 cents worth on this flick.

Re: Hostiles

If you get the refillable combos they'll refill your popcorn and soda free. You can also add a hotdog to the combo for a buck and they have good dogs. We go there quite a bit in the winter but only during the week, that's the nice thing about being retired. 8 other people in the theater when we saw it.

Must be a bunch of "High Rollers" north of the river to be able to splurge at that place's concession stand

Wu - Ah just wait for it to get to the Walt there in NH some time next year. Concessions are cheap and I heard they got new folding chairs with cushions. Plus they went to the big screen when king size sheets went on sale at walmarts.

Yeah--20 oz soda and popcorn is $3.50 at The Walt

and the chairs even have cushions and cup holders unless you sit in the balcony

Heard that the WalMart in Washington set a white sale record the year they put that new screen in

Always wanted to go there. Wish they had afternoon shows. That's what's nice about Washington, they're open during the week with afternoon shows.

Re: Hostiles

Bubba - What ! You don't know the "Walt"? You must live in some backwater town like JC or somethin.

Old fashion movie palace in New Haven. Seen me some movies there when I was but a yout and there was no TV and barely electricty. Big deal then

It's official bio.....
Operated and owned by Walter Buchholtz, the grand opening of The Walt was on November 14, 1940 with three showings at 2:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m., with the western film “Wyoming” starring Wallace Beery. Admission was 10 cents for kids and 25 cents for adults.

Over the past 77 years there have been some changes, mostly minor renovations and upkeep, but amazingly the same marque on the front remains and the same “white” screen the first movie was projected on back in 1940 is still used today.

The summer of 2014 brought big changes for The Walt. The Walt converted from 35mm print to digital cinema. Instead of using 35mm film, a digital movie is on a computer hard drive. As a result, every movie is crystal clear, the image doesn't jump and there is no noise from the projector booth. The Walt's digital premiere was on Friday, August 29, 2014.

Re: Hostiles

Bubba-- additionally

The Walt is also the site of the Riveriew Short Film Festival

https://www.rsfvfestival.com/

This festival receives entrants from all over the world

https://www.rsfvfestival.com/news.html

We have friends that are entering a local film for judging this year

This festival is pretty big doings-- complete with adult beverages and good food

The Walt is in exceptionally good condition-- modern seating, updated surround sound system and as stated digital projector

The Senate in Elsberry is essentially the same size shape and age and trust me.....compared to The Walt

The Senate could certainly use some 'minor' renovations

or a new coat of fire
