jalapeņo popcorn

I had never seen this before but it is real simple and damn good.

Melt a little butter in a medium sized skillet and throw in a couple dozen jalapeņo slices out of any brand jar...not fresh sliced but guess you could. Cook on medium high heat for 6 minutes or so...they will brown and get crispy looking.

While you are cooking them start your oil for popcorn in either a stove top pan or popcorn maker. Once the jalapeņos are done and the oil is hot put in the popcorn and add the jalapeņos and the butter into the popcorn oil also.

Let the popcorn pop as normal and then salt and or butter as you normally do.

Eat away!

Re: jalapeņo popcorn

We use an air popper or, in a pinch, a microwave to make our popcorn.

You got any recipes that are actually useful inthe 21st century?

Yes - here is the updated 21st Century version.

Please substitute EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) for the butter in the first step of the process for cooking the peppers.

Omit the heat on the stovetop - simply put 1 tablespoon of EVOO in the pan, add the peppers and fold the peppers into the oil so there is a even layer of EVOO on all of the peppers.

This should lubricate the peppers adequately and the lack of heat should help out with burns as you go to the alternate step #2.

Take the coated peppers and shove them up your ass!

Step #3 - microwave you a bag of your favorite popcorn and eat as you typically do.

Thanks for the interest - hope the alternative will suffice for your 21st century needs

Well, it appears I have struck a nerve, I had no idea this recipe was so dear to you.

Still, we don't cook "microwave popcorn" in a bag, you damn rube.....we simply microwave our gourmet North Loup, Nebraska, popcorn in a suitable microwavable container so as to keep the freshness.

I'm not sure how having peppers shoved up my ass could compliment the flavor, or allow others to also enjoy the jalapeno flavoring, but I'm sure you have a technique that you have tried and perfected.

No struck nerve...just figuring all 21st century like a standard was probably that new colonic thing so it was something familiar to you.

And...being you now played the gourmet popcorn card, might I suggest foregoing the jalapeņo suggestion and just drizzling a spat of Grey Poupan over the top, after removal from the suitable microwave container, of course.

Re: jalapeņo popcorn

When I worked at the country club,we had a big, glass cased theater style popcorn machine. The golfers pay 20,ooo$ a year-but raise hell if they didn't get their free .25 cent bag of popcorn.

It broke one day so I was back in the kitchen cooking up some big batches on the stove.2 younger waitresses came through and asked what I was doing, after I told them ,one turned to the other and said"I didn't know you could do that"...swear to God,I just cringed.

Took the grandkids camping about 10 years ago.Took 2 days and 6 or 7 stores to find the old style jiffy pop for the campfire.Should have seen some of the blank stares I got when asking the clerk/stockboys if they had any.

Best thread on this whole site in quite some time...

Whodathunk popcorn, jalapeņos and anal cavities would be the key ingredients in such good entertainment. Well, other than duko?

I'm sure things will pick up now that the World Cup is starting and Ryan Miller is not playing in goal for any of the teams.....so far
