i'm there with you. i had to look the other day to see when it started. i used to know the date like a birthday..
i guess i'm getting old - not a fan of parts of the game today. i'd rather watch college baseball 9 months of the year, vs these half-assed dudes playing pro.

I have to confess I've been surfing in and out a bit more with the team actually hitting the ball and playing good defense. Pitching has been better than advertised as well.
Whatever Herrera is drinking he needs to pass the bottle around.
We'll see.

i haven't watched any games, but listened to a couple.
the talk about the new hitting coach had/has me inspired.. hopefully they keep him around cause his style is what is missing from the game.
elevating the baseball is fine, if you're strong enough to get it out, but this garbage has infiltrated all the way down to 10 yr old travel ball teams. Probably coached by 30 y/o youtube coaches.. All you end up with is a chitload of flyouts, popouts & K's.
you never hear of guys choking up, shortening their stride and just put the ball in play with two-strikes.
hopefully the trend is back to good baseball

VERY few are that strong...and the ones that are usually know when its "time to go".
BLD's is what we called them...boring line drives. When I coached over the years - starting with age 9 kids following up through age 14, we did this drill every indoor practice in the tunnel.
Everyone lined up outside the tunnel - started going through the line one at a time. One hit per round...if the ball hit the ceiling of the net - you are out. Keep going through round by round until there is a winner. If it went more than two rounds, any ball that hit the ceiling of the net, or the ground was an out.
Get on the top half and line it into the grass somewhere.
Talked about it watching the "new money" team night before last. I counted 8 fly balls in four innings that were all shy of the warning track by 10-20 ft. The announcers were excited every time the ball left the bat....ridiculous!
That is all.

yes sir!
that's a great drill for the youngsters. Unless they're like you're boy, they're not going to put them out of many parks. and at those young ages, defense is not top shelf, so make the infielders glove the ball and make the throw.
that's the argument i heard a few yrs ago, regarding college and mlb players. the defense was "too good" to put the ball on the ground..
i'll say, your boy could hit tanks and he woulda had the "green light" to elevate the baseball if he played for me

Caught the 9th and 10th of the game today.
Pretty cool win against the 400 million dollar Dodgers.
Cards are good defensive team and they have pitchers who know it.
Too early to tell but they are a fun team to watch, something I haven't done much of in years.

Glad you enjoyed the games
The jury is still out on getting back into the Birds after the last few years.....
I watch the highlights on the news or or line if it catches my eye....otherwise....not so much
Like the say....The world goes on regardless
Of course.....I could climb back on that bandwagon and be a homer

June 12th - a kid that played at the local juco here a couple yrs ago (where i played in the 90's), Crowder College, is making his MLB debut tonight against the Cardinals. Jacob Misiorowski. Kid is a starter & hits triple digits, easily. Has hit 103 in AAA this year. Also on the Brewers' roster is another CC alumni, Aaron Ashby. Pretty cool to have two guys from a small juco on the same roster. Both were drafted from Crowder. They didn't transfer.

Misiorowski with the W and Ashby with the S. I’d say Crowder was represented well. Bryce and Ashby played together a couple of years prior to college life.
