Hop I saw that book/DVD at Cabela's I think ? I was stupid and listen to an "upland" dog person at Cabela's and got "Training The Upland Retriever" by George Hickox --its an ok dvd but like title says its for the "Upland" retriever. Was up at Roger's and watched " The Basic Retriever " by Chris Akins , it was much more complete . Returning the first dvd and buying the second I think ? My pup's got a few more weeks before introducing her to a training collar , and by my observation she seems very biddable and won't need much harsh training , even though I will force fetch train her at some point.

I was just reading the age of your pup and at this age.... Keep everything fun and dont let your pup get bored of doing "Baby Retrieves... Always end a Session when she is excited..That will keep her fired up for the next session...
Now is time for socialization and the two of you learning more about each other...and doing some "Baby Obedience.".
I've seen in the past people that have tried to do the Hold Drill before theier Dogs even got thier Canines in and expected them to hold a Bumper and then hammered them for being unable too...
Enjoy your Pup and Let your Pup enjoy you!

Yeah I know Hop I love doing the puppy play training anyway , no pressure and all fun , I just want to have everything ready for her when she's ready . One of the reasons I bought this house a year ago was because of the large back yard with a privacy fence around it . Yes its been that long waiting for the right pup at the right time. Stoneman

I dont know Flocked it may have been the Histoplasmosis from all those pidgeon guiding years under Golden Boy's Belt....
You would have though the protective gear he wore would have protected him from that.

Ya......afterall those guys don't use dogs. They use 500lb men in 10' boats with shovels to pick up birds in the water.
