Need LOZ fishing report
      #205946 - 07/14/10 07:15 AM

Going to the Lake Saturday night and staying through Tuesday. I'll fish the early mornings and maybe the late evenings. I don't bass fish much anymore but used to hit it pretty hard (once I started learning to fill freezers with walleye and crappie...). My son really wants to bass fish, so I'll be a trooper and accommodate him.

Any of you bassin' dudes fish LOZ lately? I figure with the warm weather and likely high water temps, it will be mostly worms and jigs, around brush piles and structure (docks, etc...). I'll probably hit the primary and secondary points early, before the nuts turn the lake into a butter churn. Looking for any recent reports...

Thanks in advance for any help...

Fresh Niangua report

Its really slow in this arm, If they are pulling water you can get a few on deep points on plastic. If they arnt pulling water its really tough. It gets light so early that I haven't tried it before sunup, but that usually works till the sun comes up on banks with deep water close by. Call 573-365-9205 for lake info. The neighbor that is a slow learner has finally nstarted hitting my points and has been getting one keeper a day, but he fishes till about 9:00. Ive had a lot going on but was out Sunday between storms and got no bites on plastic but got a short a couple drum and a channel cat on a deep crank. So my enthusiasm is waning!

I'll be around the 5-6 mile marker and won't wander more than a few miles.

Main lake points, 12-15' deep, big worms, if they be pullin water. If not........try brush at the same depth in coves. Me and oldest grandson prolly caught 16-18 fish last Sat. from 6 to 8:30 a.m. with 6 keeps.

I'll give that a try, foots. Thanks for the info.

I'll only hit points until about 8:00 or 8:30. I get skeert of the big boats after that...

Welp, let me tell you that it was one hot mofo out there. I'm talking sticky, humid, Africa hot. The water temps were just under boiling and you had to drink 2 gallons of wter per hour to stay hydrated.

The fishing was poor. We fished the early mornings and late evenings, into the night (12:00 AM and 1:00 AM). Fished plastic worms, Zoom brush hogs, lizards, crank baits, spinner baits, etc... We would have fished hot dogs and bologna, if we had it in the boat. We fished points, brush piles, docks, banks, bluffs, chunk rock, pea gravel, you name it, we tried it.

In the end, we caught one 15+ lb flathead on a Zoom brush hog, a 6-7+ lb flathead on a 10" power worm and a few bass, with only one being a keeper. The big flathead was fun!!

Thanks for all the tips and advice fellas. I think I'll stay away until the temps go down a bit...

didn't get to fish it, but found out the better fish moved out a little deeper than I'd pm'd you... Like 22-25ft... Did you catch that flathead around those condo's? Have caught some big boys in there on a blk/blue flake brushhog before...

No, caught the flatheads both on secondary points, in about 6-10 feet of water, between docks. Both were well after dark.

The only place we fished 20'+ was along the bluffs, on the main channel. We fished 15'+ along docks, where I knew there were brush piles and/or structure.
