A story for last stand
      #224808 - 12/09/11 07:19 AM

For the last year or so, my partners and I have been negotiating the sale of our business.

At this point, we're getting everything nailed down except the air above the land where we're located. It's been a long process, because it's not just and 'asset sale', but a stock sale that includes all of our assets and all of our liabilities. It includes a floating inventory, and the services of our employees, and many of my guys have been with me over 35 years.

The company, was founded in 1960, so it also includes the goodwill that we have generated. Most of that's about 'loyalty', and it's a difficult thing to put a price tag on. There isn't one SINGLE thing that has been simple about the process, but where there's a will there's a way to get these things done. And we're (hopefully) at the end of it all.

Many, many times I've kicked my own ass for paying the high cost of Leafs' season tickets. And, since they haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1967, that's no wonder, huh?

Today, the news came that two large media companies are reportedly buying Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, including The Leafs, The Marlies (Jr.A team), The Air Canada Centre and The Rogers Centre.

Does it matter? Nope.

Because in the end, the last major sticking point in the whole entire sale of my company is "Who gets to keep The Leafs' Season Tickets?"

NOBODY actually wants to pay for them.

EVERYBODY knows that they are a measure of LOYALTY and DETERMINATION.

Don't let this thing get you down, Buddy.

Thanks Ms Bud. I think.

Assuming (always that disclaimer for your posts you know) you are relating your story to me regarding losing AP no worry on this end. Honestly, if we signed him for 220/10 I would have been furious. Well....pizzed off any way. It's gonna be a strange opener without him and Tony around but hell it's a game.

As for the Leafs and all your Canuck suitors and your sale.........don't kid yourself.....the buyers will go low to cover the tic's.....bwaaaaaaaaa.

Congrats on a great run by the way.

ls - this will be you're thread. You've responded remarkably to gibbersh that none of us understand. If you can keep her occupied here, she might quit posting gibbersh on the other forums... Thanks for taking one for the team!!

See, you're wrong about the season's tickets. Everybody WANTS them, no one can actually wrap their heads around paying the price for them, even though they are EASILY one of the best investments going.

If we were to stop the subscription, we'd be on about a 25 year waiting list to replace them.

Thanks.

I think she's fretting over giving up season tickets that she doesn't want and worried about being on a 25 year waiting list for tickets she doesn't want... I can understand this because I too fret over having to wait for things I don't want... Just last week, I decided I didn't want to pay for a giant high-def TV. As you can imagine it really bothered me that I shouldn't stand in line all night at Best Buy to get the TV. So I just had a cold one and worried about it all night...

I think I'm getting the hang of this...

One to nothing for The Caps, at the end of the first period.

And, I'm still here eating my strawberry jam sammich.

Nothin's changed much.
