Doug Armstrong nails it. I called it grit, he calls it "killer instinct". I used the analogy of the foot on the throat, uses the knife in the eye to the brain...

Doug Armstrong's assessment of Blues

Hitchcock and Armstrong need to take this team to a younger core. I see Tarasenko as not only a pure scorer but a guy with leadership skills. I've read countless stories and talked to people that interact with him. Without exception, he is considered a class act and natural born leader. Give him the "C" and let the old guard learn from him. If they keep going with the "seasoned veterans" teaching the young guns, the only thing they'll learn is how to collapse when it really counts.

Look for Allen/Elliott tandem in goal next year. Not only will the Blues not sign him, he likely cost himself millions with his playoff performance. But rest assured, someone will pay him...

Take it to a younger core?

Let's get specific. Go thru the roster. Now who is going where?

I like the vast majority of this team. I see no problem with heart for the majority of our forwards. We do need a valid, #1 line playmaking goal scoring center. But we are at the cap, we have a lot of guys signed, so good luck with that. But no matter, that is one huge priority for this group.

I am ready to make a move on D. Just too dam soft for the playoffs. Love the transition game, and the idea behind it, but in the nhl you always need muscle when it gets down to April. Again, this is wishful thinking, but one big impact guy who can entirely alter our D.

I see these 2 big moves needed for sure. But not an over haul and not an intentional effort to "get younger" per say. We have the talent, we need the grit. We are close in many ways.

Who can go to TRY to land these guys?

Contracts aside... Berglund, Shattenkirk, Petro, Jbo, Rattie, Cole, Steen and host of others.

Sobi, Senko, Schwartz, Backes, = Untouchable. 2 of those are "youngsters".

As for the tender we remain ratforked. We need a good goalie and you have the 2 obvious choices. Elliott has been at his best as a back up and fill in. I like him in that role. But even there he might want to go or the Blues may use him to trade. That leaves Allen, a forkin rookie and basically, until proven, an unknown.

I like Armstrong and I can't blame him for moving Bishop but my gawd that ended up looking like one huge matzaball of a decision. Would he like to have a do over on that. Yes Sir he would.

And now the Miller move is on his resume as well.

Let's face it, we have not had a solid goalie in how many friggen years?

So for me we try to make a couple of big moves that might well upset the apple cart but change the missing dynamic for playoff hockey. I just don't know if DA can do it. I don't see either he or Hitch on the hot seat at this point and time but believe me they are looking hard at next year to get this team deep or they know they will be.

I would make sure Roy (30) and Morrow (35) were not on the roster next year. Both took valuable ice time from some young guns that could have contributed and maybe even scored a goal or two. Both were a huge disappointment in the playoffs. Weren't they both here for "leadership"? Berglund is not old but he has been a huge disappointment. He came back from the Olympics and looked like the player we all know he can be, for about 2 weeks. Then, as usual for him, he disappears for weeks at a time.

I don't have that big of an issue with the "D". The bigger issue was lack of scoring and a goaltender that can stand on his head once in a while.

I will have to do some digging but I think the Blues are fine, with regards to the cap. If they let the FA's walk, that are not producing and don't sign Miller, they have some room. And how much room do you need to bring up Rattie, Jaskin, etc...

I was a huge fan of Armstrong and Hitchcock but some of this has to fall on them. While some of the deals didn't pan out, you have to give credit for the ones that did. Even the Miller deal wasn't all bad. They found someone to take Stewart's contract and that has value. Moving Bishop may prove to be his worst deal. We'll see.

Still hung over....oance againe....with Blueless playoff hockey.

However, can't say I did not enjoy last nights double header with the Habs whippin the Bruins and the Wild getting their first win over the Hawks.

Too bad Pittsburgh did not play coulda been a trifecta.

It is great hockey but man could it be greater with a little more Blue on the ice.

oh yeah fork Sid Crosby.

I have no idea who was ultimately responsible for the Miller debacle, but he should be fired.

It's obvious the Blues got a washed-up goalie on the back end of a decent career. His play was horrible. Call it whatever you want, that was just pizz poor goaltending from start to finish. Miller had one really good game as a Blue.....I think it was the Philly game. That's it.

You wannabe sports pundits can suck one.....there isn't anybody in the Blues organization who would go out on a limb for that forker after what he showed in his time here.

Geez....... one of the worst moves ever by a team with no shortage of boneheaded moves.

Dear Ryan Miller:

Don't just leave......get the fork out!! And take your cheering section with you.

Duck Dynasty?

bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I've seen a few clips of that show and I fail to see anything related to ducks or anything related to a dynasty. But keep them quotes comin and be sure to buy their coffee mugs. The "dynasty" depends on it. I met that Cy guy 30 years ago in southern Illinios. He must be laughin his azz off with this whole thing.

Back to hockey..........fork the Black Hawks.......watchin Kane go skate-free for another game winning goal makes me sick.

Was glad to see the Kings beat the Hawks. I have grown to really dislike the Hawks. They are good, to be sure but I just donlt like the way they acrry themselves. From coach Q to the last player on the roster, they are pricks!!

Now, let's hope the Blues can be hated like that some day...

I'll take the Kings over the Rangers in 5 or 6. I hope I'm wrong but I think they are a better team. Rangers have some emotion on their side with the St. Louis thing but that may have run it's course. If the Hawks were in it, I may not have watched a single minute of the Finals. At least now I can watch some of it...

Does the database push your phone when someone mentions retired spell checker?

Staying the theme, there should be a space between "Oh," and "you".
