I'm hoping for Washington/St. Louis in the cup final. I might actually root for Washington and Halak just so I'd never have to read anything about hockey from you two boneheads again.

I saw the highlights of the Nicklas Lidstrom ceremony, in Detroit last night. I only got to see Bobby Orr play one time, in person and was really too young to appreciate what I was seeing. But I've seen dozens and dozens of highlight reels and saw him live on TV many times. I understand he is the best defenseman ever. But Lidstrom could be #2. If he's not, he's certainly in the top 5 ever to play the game. What a stud he was!!
I heard the Blues announcers talking about it last night and bringing up Doug Harvey and Dennis Potvin. I can't believe they left out Larry Robinson. Of course there is also the guys we are familiar with like Al MacInnis, Chris Pronger and Scott Stevens.
Makes you wonder if any of these guys we have can get to that status? I think we have some good ones right now but not quite that level. Then again, having 4 or 5 really good defensemen may be as beneficial as one superstar back there.
Here's to Nicklas Lidstrom. He played hockey that right way

Bobby Orr was one of the best that ever laced up but I never liked him.

There may have been better defensemen, but nobody was more feared in front of the net, EVER, than Vladimir Konstantinov. If I was building an all-star team and needed 6-8 defensemen.....he'd be one.

Yeah, he would last about a week in today's NHL. They would flag him for interference, elbowing, leaving his feet, and every other thing they could think of. He would get penalty after penalty and suspension after suspension. He wouldn't be a good player for your team because the NHL wouldn't let him play...

Whelp I listened to the Blues game on the radio today. What a trip. Aside from nearly giving me a heart attack it brought back some old sweet memories.
Beating the Avs in Colorado is significant. A hot top conference team.
Anyway..........in that Miller seems to be consistent, and has won 4 games more than Jaro since the trade, (that be F-O-U-R) I thought it might be worth it to make a suggestion to you griffin.
I think you had better jump on this wagon right now. The Miller-Blues wagon. Just pick up the phone and call Lee and find how to do it as gracefully as possible. We will all go along and pretend you never wanted to keep Jaro.....bwaaaaaaaa........sorry, pardon the lack of composure..............anyway.....this might really be it...........you don't wanna be outside, after 46 years of waiting.....and Miller is NOW BLUE...........you can't separate them......just make the leap dude......get on this love train....we will all turn our backs when you do it.

Dude....without a doubt, one of the best saves I have seen all year from any goalie by Elliot tonight.
You realize that Elliot is 5th is GAA ad Miller is 23rd.....right?

GAA is a stat that carries far less weight than save percentage, for evaluating goalies, becuase it reflects overall team play more than the goalie's talents. Look at save percentages and you will see Miller ahead of Elliot. That is even more impressive, when you consider the quality of his saves with Buffalo. That is a really bad team...
I still like Elliott and glad to have him as a back-up, in case Miller gets hurt or falls on hs face. But Elliott was given chance after chance to show he is top tier and just didn't do it. He's good. This team deserves great.

No, I had no idea Miller was with Buffalo and they were the worst team in hockey.....I rarely follow the game.  (I guess Miller gets some credit for being last too, huh?)
Their save percentages are .924 - .918....hardly a massive difference when you consider the GAA is over 1/2 goal difference in favor of Elliot.
I'm fine with Miller....I was fine with Halak and Elliot...all top tier goalies, and Halak actually has a better save percentage than Miller in playoff games.....if you want to hand your rather large and pompous hat so proudly on that statistic. 
If the Blues win the cup, Miller doesn't get the credit for it.....period.

Did you watch Jaro play last night? He didn't have rebound issues, the puck just went flying right by him.
Miller gave up one that he could have stopped but our pp right now is in the tank. Dallas came to play, the Blues, not so much.

Not the Blues best effort. Miller would tell you that he would like a do-over on that breakaway goal against him. The other two were goals no matter who was in net. The first was a power play goal and the OT goal was a point blank wrist shot from 15 feet, with three players in front of Miller.
griffin - just how good can a goalie be if the team that traded for him, traded him away the next day?
Next up, David Perron comes back to town with Edmonton. I'd say that trade has worked out well for both teams. Perron is doing well in Edmonton and the Blues were able to free up some ice time for guys like Tarasenko and Schwartz. Hopefully, Backes or one of the boyz can rock his world with a few punishing checks and get him off his game. I fear the kid will want to score a few goals against his old team, just to prove a point.
