This weather is just another example of why MDC should start the season earlier in October. Give us more season to hunt before the freezing starts!
Damn ice.

It's over in Texas. 8" of snow last night. All the playa lakes are pretty much frozen. Death Ditch gave up a few limits on Friday. As we hunted it froze our decoys in like the playas did today. Time to put away stuff for the season. Too bad we had until January 26th to get after them.

700,000 sitting in SD on the MOMO river. Gonna be -15 tonight there. -5 there tomorrow. Omaha ain't getting above freezing for the next week. Barely above zero for the next couple days. 4-5" of snow coming. Every mallard up there will be in Oklahoma.......on some places that stay open, with them in a split. That means unmolested birds come next weekend, when we show up. I hate when that happens.

Talked to my brother in Okieland
he said birds are showing up--- even if they had a 4.5 earthquake today
Says he has 1/2 inch of ice and 5 inches of snow
From what he said--y'all better bring plenty of shells and bring rain gear-- present forecast says Saturday will be rain and 47 degrees --

Had to make a hole and keep it open Saturday but every bird that came by wanted in...
On a less cheery note, my forkin' Drake waders leaked in the seams at the crotch. Only the 3rd or 4th time I had them on and I have to spend the day with a wet crotch. I wasn't expecting that until my 80's. They went back to Dunn's on Sunday for an exchange but they aren't carrying them anymore. Had to send them back to Drake. We'll see how good their customer service is...
