I quit watching after 9-2. There was no stopping Detroit last night.

Carry on Royals.

48-46 going into the break.

Definitely a disappointment in the last series.

68 games left after the break...they best be putting some W's on the board

I need them to go 38 - 30 to win the annual bet with Swampy. I have high hopes but very low expectations..

48-50.
64 games left in season.
38-26 for TimBo to finish as the winner.

Doable for a team that wants to win. Funny article on Double Play Billy today that I read. He wants to stay and will renegotiate his 15million dollar contract for next season to stay here and play like a pile of crap.

51-50 after last night. I was in the stadium for the first time last night. The play that Moose scored the unearned run on looked like something out of a Little League game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhptCuu9bEU
Every time they showed it the entire stadium was laughing. I almost felt bad for their left fielder.. almost.

They have to go 35 - 26 or better for me to win. That is a .574 win pct. Color me doubtful. They have the pitching and defense to do it but their offense is woeful..

His salary will keep him from becoming a Royal. The Phillies aren't going to eat the amount of salary necessary to open Walmart's checkbook. Plus he really has declined over the last 3 years.

Nice win tonight. I didn't think Billy could hit a ball that far anymore. And Raul legging out a triple at what age - 53?

I think I Yost is playing Butler about right. Ned makes some mistakes but he's a decent manager IMHO....

I was pleased to see Billy crush one!

Got beat up early but battled back for win 53.

Homers two nights in a row for Butler....maybe he is going to figure it out??

Dabs I am not bashing on you with the following you are just spouting of media jargon.

Billy should not have to figure out hitting. Besides wearing a glove five times a year all he does is hit. He is a DH, a professional hitter, someone who wins games with a single swing. A DH drives sac flies all over the field to advance or score runners. His lifetime batting average is like a Sweeney BA. Inflated largely by hits that have no impact on the game itself. Robinson Cano was smart in not choosing Billy for the Home Run Derby, he knows Billy is a joke.

Toe-Moss,
You really didn't need to bash poor Dabacus twice. He has feeling you know..

Royals all season have played like, and continue to play like, a .500 team which will have them playing golf again during the playoffs. Folks the big turn around after the All-Star break last year was a fluke. They caught some lightning in a bottle. Those expecting it to happen again will be disappointed. Management will not make any moves today or tomorrow thus assuring yet another year the Roy-Marts will miss the playoffs.

Here's something that I have not heard a single talking head, sports person talk about. With the crackdown on PED's everyone has seen a reduction of HR's and power in general. But what nobody seems to talk about is how some of these guys are going to chit much, much faster than anyone expected. There seems to have been a false sense that a guy could hit well into his 30's and it was normal. Now that PED's can't prop these guys up they have the double whammy of not having the PED's and having to deal with the problems taking them created (soft tissue breakdowns and joint problems).

I guess the only way you can talk about it is to bring up guys like Howard and none of them have the balls to even hint that some of these guys were users. In reality, the vast majority likely used PED's to some degree. And now we see the results...

It was not a statement but rather a question....hence the ???

Now if we want to talk about media jargon.....well, you can say that again

So it looks as if the Tigers will have made four separate deals to improve their team close to the deadline.
And the Royals? <crickets chirping>
I heard the Royals mentioned in nor fewer than 10 potential deals. Probably leaked so they can say that they tried...

Did you see the big trade the Roy-Marts made to improve the team??

Neither did I. There name was supposedly out there on all these supposed deals but did NOTHING. I am not sure that the Roy-Marts didn't leak those rumors just so Dayton "Stand pat" Moore couldn't stand up there yesterday and say that they tried.

And now Hosmer is gone for 3 to 6 weeks. They may not make it to .500 this year.
