17 as Cueto throws a shutout.
23 games over .500
12 game lead in the Division

No Hating but ......

Per MLB Royals 67W and 44L =111 games

111 x .500 = 55.5 round to 56 games

67-56 equals 11 games over .500

Using your logic Cards are 31 games over

Just sayin

Dog should be happy. Albert made an error that lead to two unearned runs and then grounded out weakly with the bases loaded and two outs in the next inning. I believe he is "ofer" the series at this point..

I think watching Mike Trout play now must be like what it was to watch Mickey Mantle and/or Willie Mays play in their prime. Trout excels in every facet of the game.

Trout is freaking ridiculous. I just like watching him play ball. Amazing what a few games off did for Salvy. That homerun was crushed!
Albert may come back around but right now he looks like a shell of his former self. Cards were smart to say ADIOS.

Trout is arguably the best player in baseball at the moment. Ain't nobody gonna keep him off the scoreboard long...

Tied it in the ninth and won it in the 10th. Mike Scioscia looked like he should be in a Tums Extra Strength commercial. LOL
They are actually listing a "Magic Number" for the Royals.. in August. Not unusual for the Birds but must be a first for the Royals.

I don't want to see a magic number, for the Cards, until it is under 10. With the way the Pirates are playing that isn't going to be anytime soon...

Magic number for the Royals might be a bit premature..... granted it would take a massive turn of events but there have been some dramatic collapses in the past by front runners

AL CENTRAL TOP 3
Royals 71-46
Twins 59-58
Tigers 56-61

However, the Cards can't afford to think of 'magic' numbers

NL CENTRAL Top 3
Cardinals 75-42
Pirates 69-46
Cubs 67-49

Then again .....

if The Pirates or the Cubs were in the AL Central neither would the Royals

Just sayin....

When you play a majority of your games against the AL Central......with the second place team only one game above .500.........you should be talking about magic numbers. Isn't that the trash talking Lee made about the Redbirds when they won the WS several years ago??????

KC is killing the AL Central and the bottom feeders in both leagues.

Against the Yankees.........losing record
Against the Blue Jays.......losing record
Have yet to play Baltimore
Against the Astros..........losing record
Against the Rangers.........losing record
Against the Cardinals.......losing record
KC has killed the Angels and took 2 out of 3 from Pittsburg.

When playing playoff teams, the Royals have a losing record. Just food for thought.

I am actually beginning to believe I might win some hooch from Swampy again..
Another extra inning win. Zobrist took Chapman deep in the ninth to send it to extras. Chapman had saved 56 in a row at home. 13.5 game lead in the Central.
Hate on haters..

I sure can't take issue with what H2Odog said about the Royals struggling to beat the teams he listed. True dat.

Dog you have identified the real challenge the Royals have yet to overcome this year.

If you watched those games, most of the problems were our starting pitching getting clobbered early.

Since then, we have seen an improvement in their starts, and adding Cueto helps. I see a lot of coaching going on between Ventura and Volquez, Cueto and Perez. Ventura has the stuff to be an ace, once he grows up some.

Adding Ben Zobrist is a boost to the roster. Last night his homer in the ninth kept us in the game, plus he plays defense well.

We'll see how all this turns out before long....

Go Royals!!

I said when we signed Zobrist that it was a bigger deal than Cueto. I can see a scenario when Gordon walks to a big contract with a big market team and the Royals sign Zobrist in his place.

So how long are you stuck with Cueto?

I agree Tim that Zobrist is a big deal. K. Morales has been a surprise and a model DH.

As for Gordo heading to greener pastures, that would absolutely "gut" a stadium full of Midwestern fans. But not sayin' he couldn't or won't. When is his contract up?

Cueto won't last long. He'll help the Royals take the Series and he'll be down the road.

So I am sayin' the Royals are 50:50 odds to return to the WS.

Two months - he's a rental. The Royals won't pay the $'s to re-sign him either.

I believe Gordon is a FA after this year. He'll be 32 in February. I don't see the Royals spending the big bucks to keep him and players don't usually give the hometown discount any more. I hope I'm wrong.
