Young was very good last year. If he replaces someone it'll probably be Guthrie as Ned likes having two lefties in the rotation. Of course if Vargas continues to stink it up (we'll see tonight) it may force his hand.
I don't think Finnegan is ready to be an MLB starter but that's my take. Volquez has already served his suspension so he'll be back. I guess Ventura will miss two starts and that will hurt. As least we have replacements now that don't totally suck like a few years back.

When Vargas gave up the walk and the dinger in the first inning I was thinking "Oh Crap here we go again!" but he settled down, pitched very well and gave up only one more hit. I heard a debate on the radio regarding Guthrie this morning and how many more poor starts he'd get before they replace him with Young. Ned is notoriously loyal but they said from 2 to 4 more poor starts.

Wow! Duffy was baaaaaddd last night. The starting pitching is my greatest concern for this team and may be what keeps them from getting back to the playoffs. The fact the supposed #1 and #2 starters are both in the early 20's and therefore going to be inconsistent is an issue. Add in that your 4 and 5 have not pitched well and it it is troubling. The pickups Moore made in the off-season for the bullpen (especially Pino and Young) are saving the team right now. But if the starters don't start consistently giving them 6 innings every night the bullpen will be shot by the end of July.

66 - discovered I had missed a couple of W's..
Another short outing by a starter. Bullpen was stellar again. Adding Hochevar should make them even tougher. Glad that Holland is back even though Davis was dynamite as the closer.

Ouch!A bunch of moves had to be made today by the Royals. Of course right before the tigers series! They get Escobar back today but Moose goes on bereavement leave and will miss the whole series. Vargas finally throws a good game last week but is now put on the 15 day DL and Pino is brought back up. Sounds like Chris Young will pitch in his spot.
I remember them being very healthy last year - this year seems to be very different.

It's going to be tough to keep Young out of the starting rotation if he keeps this up. Won the series in Detroit and a game and s half up in the division.

Tonight could be a tough one. A LATE, LATE game in Detroit and then having to travel to Texas? I hope Duffy brings his "A" game tonight.. I hope I'm wrong but the bats may be tired.. at least they'll have Moose back. Other than Rios they'll have every position player starter playing for the first time in ??? games?

They best figure out what is wrong with Duffy and get it fixed ASAP. 
I heard this morning that there is a distinct possibility that Vargas could be done for the year. 
Moore better be looking at which starting pitchers are going to be available too pick up in a trade. Starting pitching is THE biggest weakness on this team.

I think they will get things straightened out pretty soon. Still holding fast on 90 wins. But, we also really need Rios back in the worst way. Dyson and Orlando have not been the answers.

Tough row to hoe with Pineda on the mound for the Spankees.
Not that I dislike those low-life, mouth -breathing, bottom feeding, bastages.. but it would be a perfect game to me if the Royals won 27 - 0 and A-roid went 0 - 4 and fouled off a ball into his nuts in every at bat.

Okay Tim, here is my post.
In the month of May back in 2014 the Royals went 12 and 17. I actually thought it was worse than that until I just went and looked.
This May so far the Royals are 10-7 with 11 games left in the month. Many of the games this month have been against quality opponents and they have some tough series coming up the rest of the month.
I said May will be the pivotal point of the season. Back to back strong pitching performances by pitchers other than Chris Young with shut outs last night and tonight look promising.
They are usually a second half season strong finisher. It should be fun to watch the season continue as their confidence builds....or at least evens out.

With Vogler on the bandwagon the Royals will not win the World Series. He has killed every potential Blues cup team in recent years. Said Tarasenko was an MVP candidate and he gets injured. Happens every time he starts pulling for a team or specific athlete. Pretty well cursed. So glad he is not a Packer fan.
