Ventura pitched the best game he has all year last night. He finally settled down and went 7 innings, blanked the Reds, with no walks.
We're gonna need to see that Ventura more often! Moose came though again with wicked timely hitting.
On top by 2 1/2 games feels purty special...

It is early Mac....I am not sure if I am feeling "special" yet.
Did anyone else hear the Johnny Cueto rumors this morning? Apparently the Reds announcer made comment on their radio station prior to the first pitch last night that "HomeofToto" City would be a team that could benefit from Cueto more than the Reds.
Then in an interview after the game with Cueto he made comment that he once again did his job but the rest of the team didn't hold up to their end.
There is speculation he is looking to be traded, and, although next year he could bring huge salary, he could be picked up for a song and a dance for the remainder of this year.....something the Royals might just take advantage of and then let the highest bidder have him next year after he helps them out this year.

The same rumors are swirling about Mike Leake of the reds and Scott Kazmir of the A's.. It is nice for the Royals to be in the position of being a buyer than a seller liek they were all of those years...

58 Best record for the Royals in their first 40 games. Cool that this weekend will both be first place teams!

Well dabs, I am feelin' good about the Royals having the best record in baseball...even if it may not last.
5-0 Royals over the Cards tonight, courtesy of DH Morales. He leads the majors in RBI's if I recall.
Solid pitching with stellar defense and we win agin!

Good lookin team. Strong everywhere best I can tell.
We'll see if it holds up for all 162.
I may have to have further discussion about this whole thing in my BB forum.

If they can stay healthy, keep the suspensions from happening and not let mental things get in the way they very well could stay strong all year....the last three or four years of history shows they are an after the all star break strong team....if history repeats itself it should be a deep run again.
The mindset isn't much beyond game to game....they look to win each series and then go on to the next.
Pitching could go South again but 3 of the last 4 were shutouts with teams that include the Yankees and the Cards.
Hochever, Herrara, Davis and Holland are all on at least 3 days rest...you got to like that moving forward the next couple games....if they get to finish the series with the typhoon coming in this evening.
They could get schooled tonight just the same...but I like the roll they are on.

That was certainly ugly yesterday! Duffy to the DL - is he really hurt or was it more about Vargas coming back? Still at 56 more wins needed.

your boy Guthrie ought to be on the DL with whiplash!! my goodness..
my 12 year old son had an outing like that in Nevada a couple weeks ago. first three batters went yard on him and the last one was 350' or more, but the weekend after that, he got to start game 1 of a tournament in Springfield and threw a 4 inning no-hitter. 7k's and 1 walk. I was very proud of him for not letting his previous outing weigh negatively on him. (sorry, had to brag a lil.)
Royals look good this year. It's a good year for baseball fans in MO..

I was busy yesterday hauling my Mom to the cemetery to make sure all of the family graves looked nice....I was glad for that after looking at my ESPN update in the 2nd inning. WOW.
It would have been nice for that not to happen - but there will be games like that - hell, there might be series like that.
I am sure there will be a 5 game skid at some point this year - and it is still May so it very well might be happening now.
You are right Haus - it is a good time to be a baseball fan in MO - both sides of the state are in the top 3 ranked major records at the current point.

Yesterday was ugly! Guthrie could not buy an out with his soul.
The Royals need to adjust their pitching so the Yanks don't hit it out all day to the right field short porch. Otherwise we will see more of this.
Royals had a good win streak and NY had a losing streak to end.
Hopefully we can salvage a game or two in this series...

Royals came to NY unprepared to deal with NY's left-handed home run hitters to the right field porch. Practically every pitch thrown inside or low is getting hammered to the seats. Geez!
Yankees are a different team on the road than at home.
It would appear they be getting hot. Bummer...

Two of the hottest teams in MLB teams coming in this week to Kauffman - the Injuns and the Rangers. Royals need to put together a good homestand.

52 Nice job by Vargas and the pen. Morales continues to produce. Royals defense was very good again tonight. Back in first in the Central.

Yep Morales is doing exactly what we'd hope in a DH role. He can play first, but mostly we need his RBI production, and a few homers sprinkled in and there. His ability to bat and throw from either side is remarkable!
Dyson's speed is an asset Ned needs to deploy more often. "Speed do that," was a catalyst before, although earlier this year, we had enough bats hitting that stealing didn't make sense. Now, not so much...
I want to see the Royals apply maximum pressure to every club's pitcher and infield. Getting leads, turning a single into a double and putting the pressure on every inning, every pitch!
That is what a talented team like the Royals can do...
