That party at my doublewide where there is usually barely enough food, hardly any people, very little laughter and is usually lacking in booze happens on 2/13 this year. I mean if any one is bored and looking for something to do...

Yeah, you're right Wags.
All I can do now is catch a minimal buzz, and hobble back to my own house. ( Assuming it's within ten minutes of the venue ) Sound familiar ?
When was the last time you drove 200 miles for a party ?
Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see you folks. I attended the first nine or ten events, and you know that. The last few were solo trips, but I still showed.
For various reasons, my normal road brothas can no longer make the journey. Times change.
That said, I won't say that I will not be there. If I'm not, I'll surely miss the company, the laughter, and your bashed taters.
As far as the ability to party.......... You wouldn't stand a chance.

Nah....we just got bored watching everyone pass out around us. Don't call us out of retirement......3 weeks is not near enough time for you to get in shape for it. It would be the death of you.

This coming from a hand who couldn't venture past the MO River for a throw down get together that I remember......and that was like 10 years ago. Couldn't hang then, so I sure as hell know you couldn't hang now.

I stopped drinking some hours ago and that is a long drive to make sober. Depending on what the white rats are doing, might see if the wimmens will chauffer me north

most of the pics were destroyed...no evidence...
Jon, we've actually stepped up our game, we borrow a rotisserie smoker now, someone brings a deep fryer that is the shizzit...all asparagus was blanched for 18 seconds...
food wise, here is a partial list I can remember...but we had elk, antelope, venison, goose and ducks, smoked salmon, blackened salmon, smoked trout, snapping turtle soup of some kind...doves, pheasant and quail, smoked spoonbill...goose enchiladas...shrimp and oysters, deep fried crappie and catfish with hush puppies, smoked stuffed jalapenos, venison meat balls and summer sausage, rueben casserole made with corned venison, and some veggie crud of sorts...even some chocolate crap for the garage people...
Keg too...different crowd than us rowdies in the past, but the food hasn't changed much...and some moonshine...
Nothing went boom...well, almost nothing but that is a different story...house cleaned up nice today...not once did I hear him say "I'm never doing this again..."

As I told Dan'l, I think the same amount of alcohol gets consumed nowadays, it's just that the per capita has gone way down.. Survived another year without the po-po being called. It isn't the same though without someone falling down stairs though.. RIP Roger Clark

Only missed one Gilligan and that was due to illness. Bet you was glad your wife finally left so you could drink. Was the bang the Skipper's differential cratering?

Being serious for a moment,F&F will always mean a lot to me.
I'm not a real social person, more a 1 on 1 person..but this gathering gave me the chance to meet people that I'd 'talked to" on the net for years. This may sound stupid, but meeting people face to face after reading posts is a big eye opener, kinda like seeing someone that you listen to on the radio for the first time.Get an image in your head, then totally blown away seeing them and interacting. Greg and burrhead were my basement room mates(O.K. set ya'll up here),but was nice to go somewhere and have a drink without worring about driving-the snoring was another matter.:)
Anyway,a big hats off to Tim for doing this, and all the other chairitable contributions Tim has done. Also for hosting this for however long it goes on.Also his beautiful wife ,kids, and stepkids, any grandkids yet?
Outside of my own family, this was something I always looked foreward to.
RIP Tigerstripe also, one of a kind!Spent many of days with him and Carole, and always heard some good stories-but it took about 2 hours to tell!

I AM a fairly social critter.
I damn near always drank too much, ate too much and laughed too much. ( not that I cared at the time )
No doubt it was a great party. It always has been so.
Helping to cook and do prep was never " work ". It was just part of a fun gig. I have many memories as well.
Sorry about the snoring, Jon. But it was probably all Kevin's doing.

Thanks for the kind words Jon. I always enjoyed your company and I learned quite a few things from you in the kitchen. I wish you were still close enough to attend.
As I have gotten older I've become somewhat more philosophical like most old people. Here goes: Everything changes - nothing stays exactly the same. That things change is not always necessarily bad.. or necessarily good. Most times it's just different. I miss a lot of the crazy times and people who used to attend this event. Yes F & F is quite a bit different now from the old days. More folks attend now who don't hunt or fish mainly thanks to my wife and her circle of friends. It is still fun for me to get the non-outdoors people to try wild game and see how they appreciate it. I guess in the end the reasons for F & F really haven't changed - it's something to do between when hunting seasons end and fishing season starts, it's to try to help people find a little happiness through food and drink, and get a chance to see some people I don't see often enough, to see some smiles and hear some laughter. I think those reasons are still the same and they still happening. Carry on..

Like the old saying 'mind over matter'
To those that matter---they don't mind and those that mind--they don't matter
Glad y'all had a good time
btw--did the 2nd set get there yet??
