Good win last night. I would say this is the Blues team we were expecting all year but that would not be accurate. This is better than what we expected. It seems as though Chief Berube has these boys firing on all cylinders. I'm most impressed with the puck possession and willingness to get more physical. The last few games I've watched, the forecheck has been tenacious and the scoring opportunities off the forecheck have increased. Also nice to see the offensive work getting closer to the net. Blasting shots from the point is a low percentage move unless it is just to get the puck in tight and muck it up for a goal.
Let's see how this plays out but the playoffs look like a sure thing barring a few key injuries or another meltdown. And I can see them making it past the first round, if they keep playing like this...
I suspect the next loss will come when they have to put Allen back between the pipes...

That be 3 games 4 days last 3 ga,es and now 3 games 4 days this three and if right it will be 3 games 4 days next series.
From Mid January to mid March the blues have ZERO back to back home games. Every home game in that span is a 1 game stand.
So not only is the schedule jammed with games the travel is absurdly bad. Only nhl would pull this off.

This team is nowhere close to having the horses to make a deep playoff run. In fact, they are a goalie injury away from being back out of the playoffs.

Actually, this team has more horses than most. Their depth is one of their biggest advantages. Their 4 lines collectively are at upper top of league.
You doubled down, or I guess more apt to say you quadrupled down. Got it.
Let the games play on. Let Binnington be real. Leave Eddy alone.

Dude - just stop.......the Blues are barely in he top 20 in goals scored. None of their lines, collectively, in a group, sitting at a bar, hitchhiking down the road, rock climbing, surfing, or playing hockey are at upper tier level.
My God......the team wins 8 in a row and you lose your mind.
Uh.....let me remind you, the Flyers and BlackHawks are in a similar streak......two other upper level juggernauts. BWAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

So here is my deal.
It's been REALLY hard not to be a Blues fan.....I've been one since '67. I hated giving up my seats. But I don't like this team. I hate Steen, I don't like Petro as Captain, I KNOW Tarasenko will disappear under playoff pressure.....blah,blah,blah....we've been through it.
BUT.....I like this kid playing goal. Ive seen his interviews and I'm a fan....just a humble kid trying to make it. How can you not be? It's a great story....he's picked this team up.....there can be no doubt about it.
So I'm guardedly hopeful......even with the turds they are carrying....because it would be one of the greatest stories of this franchise if they ride deep on Binnington's shoulders.
So I'm watching, and I'm cheering for this team....warts and all.
BUT GOD DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you ever read any of the other team boards? There's not a team in the league without fan "turds". As for Steen, Berube has him down to 15 min now at least he's trying.
Binny is the catalyst, O'Reilly the leader. Young role players doing their job. Berube fixing the locker room. None of above were on the team last year. Tarasenko may only score 30 this year but to me he's having his best season ever. Think about Schwartz and Schenn really heating up.
Blues will come up against it, opposing teams now putting their 'A' game effort against them already. They cannot sustain this play, Binny and team will surely falter, and the BIG question is how they respond.
As you say, let's wait and see. If Binny is a true #1, this team is a year away from true contention.

I watched all weekend and I don't even know what I'm watching....who are these guys??
I know this......the O'Reilly, Schenn, Tarasenko line is a force. MAYBE those two will be what is needed to get Tarasenko some room when it gets down to crunch time. It doesn't appear that other teams are in a hurry to get physical with either O'Reilly or Schenn. I'd like to see one of them take someone's head off after they run Tarasenko. That would go a long way to ending the mugging of 91.
The other thing......leave Steen out of the lineup unless there is an injury.
Here comes a REALLY solid Toronto team with 206 goals and a +/- of +42......uh..........go Blue???

Pretty surreal. They need every point they can get and when the streak ends it's all about how to close out the next 6 weeks and end on the rise again.
The ridiculousness of this schedule continues as well while the Blues win.
The last 16 games the Blues had to travel 16 times. In the next 14 games the Blues have to travel 14 times with 5 back to backs packed in to those 30 games and 3 of them on 3 consecutive weekends. Total BS schedule.
Binny getting the SO was great and gives Berube no reason to change how he's using him even as well as Allen played Saturday.
Not sure when 57 is coming back but he will help the second line pick it up.
So nice to see each and every Blue step up, isn't it? bwaaaaaaaaaaaaa
