Caught 8, threw them all back. (I got a mess in the freezer that needs et up before i keep anymore, which I'm thawing out today to fillet some and put a bunch on the smoker)
Pretty tame day. Saw a dozen folks where I was.
Tags went up another $1 this year. Now $5 for (4) fish. Not complaining, just the facts. Don't know if it's the same for the other parks or not.
Caught em all on roostertails. Black, fluorescent orange, and white.

How do you fry trout and make it good? I like to catch trout, but the only way I eat them is baked or pan seared/blackened. I have tried to fry it like I would crappie or bluegill (Andy's Red mostly) and it was no bueno. Is it a heat thing? I can see you used a batter of some kind.

I soak the fillets in water and salt in the fridge for a couple of days. If I don't eat them all after that, Ill put them in a ziplock filled with water and then freeze them.
They have almost no fish flavor and this is the first year I have filleted them. Usually butterfly and smoke them.
We're actually going to fry a bunch tonight. I caught a limit Sunday and they've been soaking in the fridge since then. I'm guessing the salt in the water is the difference, but it could also be I'm more tolerant than you..
Let me know if you want the recipe. It's flour and cornmeal mostly.
