Deano as a recent addition to revein scar club
      #233001 - 10/12/12 11:08 PM

SO I go back to see the plumber on halloween.. I have conceded that I wont be in waders for opening day north zone..

how long before your doc let you shoot a girly gun?

any chance he would let me shoot at bambi?

20 guage with slugs?
my muzzleloader?

what else might not have a big recoill but still knock one down legally?

I remember shootin a modified AK some years back that didnt seem to be a thumper... the kid did kill a doe with it.
***************
btw, I learned the hard way to keep your chest piller close.. the sensation of coughing AND feeling your ribs wrigglin apasrt is most unpleasanr....

**********
redleg, if you find the dry field mallards this year...that might be ezier than fightin waders on..

suggestions? btw, they drained veins in both legs.. threw most of one of them away.. though I warned them that was my leg that hurt all the time....strangely enough, knee is virtually painfree since then..maybe getting blood rerouted there.

I had mine done on early Oct 2006 and didn't touch a gun until Aug of 2007. Just didn't feel like doing it, no restriction from the doc.

That pillow will be your buddy for the next few months, you will hug up on it more than your favorite huntin dog or wife

They took the vein from my right leg and it didn't give me any problem at all. Now, it sometimes gets a little puffy and the vericose veins show up a bit more.

Once your chest bone grows back together, you will start to want to do things again. BTW...wait until you get a chest xray and see all the wire they have holding you together...that'll make you say WTF

Do you have anything in .223? Not much recoil, especially in an auto (like an AR15).

An AK would be more like a 30-30.

The .243 is a deer killer.

so are either one of those less recoill than a 20 guage or my muzzy loader? I dont have access to either a 223 or a 243.

maybe one of those throwing things...

The .223 is definitely less recoil, and the .243 should be somewhere in between that and a 20ga. An AR15 doesn't kick hard, even just holding it with one hand. Too bad there isn't one over there you could borrow.

Don't try throwing an Atlatl; that torque would split you open again.

I would recommend you go to deer camp armed with a bottle of pain killers and a 12 pack this year. Have an easy chair near by and park you ass in it. Everyone knows you don't go deer hunting for the meat....just the party

Winchester 64 grain soft tips...will do the job...you may want to put 2 or 3 rounds in the deer though

I bet there will be a lot of hunting loads in the stores since everyone has an AR these days....Not sure if there is a magazine capacity limit, most AR mags are 20 or 30 rounders

Self loading firearms are restricted to 11 rounds capacity in magazine and firearm combined. Meaning you can't just put 10 rounds in a larger magazine and call it good.

I have blocked off a 20 rounder for my FAL when I've used it.

Those 64 grain Winchesters should do the job, but bullet placement is fairly critical. I do know that my handloads using the Nosler 60 ballistic tip will make a quarter sized hole going in and a baseball sized hole coming out when taking a broadside double lung shot.

I wish the 64 gr Winchesters punched baseball size hole....that way I wouldn't have had to track the damn thing into the night. You better send Halfie some of your loads. I forget now, but what is the twist rates for the various weight bullets in .223? Something like 1:7 for under 55gr, 1:9 for 55 to 69gr and 1:12 for more than 69gr...I could have that backassward

Yep, you're backwards. The heavier the bullet, the faster rate of twist you want. 1:12 should stabilize up to around 62gr or slightly better.

Both of my AR's are 1:9 which may be too fast for a 40gr Nosler BT load I'm working on.

Oh, and those 60 grain loads of mine on head shot deer will make them look like Mr. Krabs from Spongebob.
