On February 4th, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:

"In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in
Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law. Russia does not need minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of most minorities. When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the national interest first, observing that the minorities are not Russians."
The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a standing ovation for five minutes.

Can you imagine the reaction if an American politician said the same thing about us?

Oh, wait. We know the answer to that question.

For years now I've wished that Putin was OUR president instead of the one we've got. As the leader of Russia, he's not good for us, but he's sure good for his own country.

Wonder if they'd like to swap? Nah - Russians aren't THAT stupid, we are.

"Suicides of America, etc." - ya know, it's good to know there's some common sense left in the world, even if, unfortunately it's over there and not here.

Whether Putin said those exact words, I don't know, but I'll play along and be spoiler (again).

1. Very interesting Putin talking about suicide in the US when his own country has long been the undisputed heavyweight world champ in that category for many years now, or in the very top 5 year in and year out. What the F?

2. Who in the hell would want to immigrate to Russia in the first place? In the grand scheme of all of Russia's other problems, I can't imagine that whatever problems their minorities are causing . . . that they can even begin to compare with their other major problems -- economy on the brink of collapse, feeding their own population, civil war, crime and corruption, healthcare, education level, general welfare of their population, etc. Last I heard, their own people seem to like to "defect".

3. Anyone with an education much past 3rd grade will tell you the formative years of our country began as a melting pot. We didn't all arrive here wearing stars and stripes and the red white and blue.

4. And Oz - you would swap a card-carrying socialist Putin for Obama? Wait, don't answer that.

Oh yeah, I'll answer. Sure, I'd swap in a heartbeat. Anyway, I wouldn't call Putin a socialist. I'd call Putin a nationalist (for Russia), because I don't see him redistributing wealth with money printed out of thin air and tearing down everything productive in his country to elevate (and pander to) the non-productive. Real socialists would be Obama and (before he croaked) Hugo Chavez. That's gonna work just as well here as it does in Venezuela, but it makes these guys popular with ignorant voters and it gets them re-elected.

I've come to believe that the election and re-election of Barack Hussein Obama is the worst disaster that's ever befallen the U.S. Worse than the Civil War, worse than Washington D.C. being burned by the British in 1812, worse than the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy and the death in office of FDR, worse than Pearl Harbor, worse than losing the Vietnam War, and worse than even the Carter administration.

I don't think we can ever recover from the damage Obama and his thugs have caused, and I think they've done it out of pure hatred for everything America used to stand for.

Putin, on the other hand, is a patriot - for Russia. It's too bad we don't have a president who'd stand up in front of Congress and say exactly what Putin supposedly said to his parliament, 'cause that's what needs saying.

We can and we will, I have no doubt. It might not be easy and it might not be pretty, but we will.

This is from an email that's going around. I don't especially care for the Jeff Foxworthy style it's written in, but there's some REAL good points made. How are we ever gonna straighten all this out, hucklburry?

Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.
