That's how many of those mater stealin', wire chwein' plant diggin' bushy tailed basterds died in my back yard during 2017.

2018 doesn't bode well for the survivors.

Only thing better is if they exploded into a firework display when you shot them

Congrats!

sometimes you gotta thin the herd. my best year, I shot 52, but I only shot them on Sundays, and Mondays ( trash day is Tuesday), and relegated myself to only shooting the backyard. I tried to keep it on the DL, but after a while, a few of the neighbor ladies asked if I would shoot their bunnies. I told them that I would gladly loan them my pellet gun, and their husbands could do their own shooting. only one ever did.

These all died in my back yard as well. I only shoot from my second story sniper window, and all of my neighbors are cool with it. Even the 90 y.o. W.W.II vet across the street that asked me, " Who needs those squirrels anyway ? All they do is destroy chit "

My woman put out some solar lights last Spring, and they lasted less than 24 hrs. It was chewed into small pieces. Apparently, modern wire insulation is made with soybean oil. I guess it smells like food to those rats.

I gave one a pass on Christmas morning, and it was her that had a problem with it.

You still have a woman??? It is a brave new world! LOL Congrats G!
Squirrel was the ONLY wild game my Mom refused to cook. She said they were just rats with bush tails!

I had 40 mater plants this year and I don't know how many squirrels got fed, but I imagine a few. I would find about 5-8 pounds a week on the ground. I figured I had enough to not worry about killin a tree rat. The rabbits got put on notice though. 500 strawberry plants and those bastards best stay out of my patch

Year before last, I was a little pissed about all the peaches and maters in the yard that were missing a bite or two. Then one day I came home from work, and those rat basterds had eaten every ear of my Peaches and Cream sweet corn........... in one day !! At that point, I drew the line.

Since then, My friend Mr. Gamo and I have turned the tide. I didn't keep track of numbers that first year, but the total was more than this past year.

I wasn't always this pissed. At first I put out some live traps and painted the captives' tails orange, and turned them loose at the Tank pond. No neon rats showed up back in town.

Unless they have another boom in numbers, I'll just stick with the lead poisoning.

I was trappping tree rat a few years ago and sprayed them lime green and released them at a friends place a couple of miles away.
One day he says I been seeing all these green rats.I said that wild somebody must be doing catch and release.Hes pissed.

A couple weeks later hes at my house and sees a trap with gren paint on it.

I popped a diller the other day outside the patio door with the bb gun. it was dark and I didn't see where he ran off to.

look outside this morning and I've got half a dozen eagles in the yard munching on a diller carcass.. guess I know where it ran off to..

The first live trap I had was a loaner from Foots. When I returned it with orange paint on it, he asked me if had been starting to rust.

When I told him why the paint was there and where I had taken the rats, he laughed and said, " You know they'll be back, right ? "

Only man I've ever known that had a deeper hatred than me for those rodents. ( and many others )

Last night my grand son ran inside and told me there's something in the chicken coop, and I need to shoot it. Another possum, that ended up with a .22lr going through it's head.

We've only got a handful of dillers around here. See em dead on the road now and then.

My woman always thought they were cool, until she planted an old tractor tire full of flowers, out at the Tank pond.

By the next weekend, they were all uprooted. She blamed the rats, but all the other holes in the yard around the camper told a different story. Now she hates dillers as much as squirrels.

Eight dead rats so far this year, and every starling I've seen on the suet feeder.
