We have a squad car parked in front of EVERY school in Columbia. A cop is in every school. The High schools have a minimum of 3. Jeff Jr High is in a rough part of town.......a police Substation is in the lobby. Simply having a CC teacher isn't enough. If a teacher is goingto pack a gun, they need to be training with the local police force and no one needs to know what teacher is the "armed protector". We arm our planes, and put Armed guards in our banks, provide extra security come Christmas time in businesses.......yet we don't protect our most valuable resource, our children. I sleep good knowing my community does something to protect the students in our schools.
If an armed teacher is out of the question......then an armed police officer is the answer. Enough is enough. Start protecting the damn kids
In 50 years, we haven't had a single kid die in a school fire, but we build schools that don't have a single damn flammable thing the building is built from. Sprinklers hang from the ceilings, exits light the way out..........we prepare for fires and do all to stop them......but we can't protect our schools with a person packing a gun. Private security, police, highway patrol, armed guards, or armed teachers. Right now, anything is better than nothing.
