This team is just not built for high scoring, track meets. In fact, they need to avoid those games at all costs, especially against opponents like the Avs or Caps or Bruins or even the Preds. Their game is a 200' game of containment and capitalizing on opportunities created by their containment. They just don't have many gifted scorers like Ovechkin or Marchand or McDavid or... They have plenty of talent. It just isn't the kind that is going to score 40+ goals a year.
My biggest concern is that their style of play can win a Cup but it can also wear down a team playing 82 regular season games. No team can play like the Blues did in the playoffs for 82 games and not get worn down. Berube has to find a way to win without playing every game like it is a game 7. That is goign to result in a lot of 3-2 or 2-1 wins. They could easily win the Division and have a small goal diff. Just like some of the better players may not have a huge + number for their +/- stat.
Tonight should be a good test. Vancouver is one of those teams that can score but also plays a shutdown game. We'll see how the Blues can do against them...
Go Blue!!
